Aligned with the World Programme for Human Rights Education, the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM) in partnership with the Ministry of Education Malaysia implemented the first phase of the Best Practices of Human Rights programme, known as the ATHAM programme in five selected secondary schools in Malaysia. | 2 | 2012 Article | The experience of teachers and students from the best practices of human rights in education Teng Jane Yan Fang, The study investigated the schools’ experiences on SUHAKAM’s best practices in Human Rights (ATHAM) programme. The aim of the paper was to highlight the best practices of human rights program as experienced by the teachers and students. The views were expressed in terms of the importance of ATHAM objectives, challenges and ways to overcome the challenges. With the cooperation of the Ministry of Education, five schools were selected as the pilot project in 2009. This paper focused on the report of the quantitative results. A total of 798 respondents participated in the survey. There were 148 teachers and 650 students. The findings showed that both teachers and students agreed that the objectives were important. Lack of Time and lack of support in the practice of human rights was found to be the challenges among teachers and students. | 5 | 2024 Article | FDI, trade, and finance catalysts for green growth in ASEAN-5 Tan, Yan-Teng Assuring economic growth and development without neglecting the requirement for environmental sustainability has become the most debatable topic in recent international forums. As a result, researchers and decision-makers are now focusing on green growth instead of traditional economic growth. Several factors that influence green growth have been studied in the literature to date, however, the impact of foreign direct investment, trade openness and financial development is relatively unexplored. Therefore, this study employs a fully modified ordinary least squares (FMOLS) estimator to investigate the impact of foreign direct investment, trade openness, and financial development on green economic growth for ASEAN-5 countries from 2010 to 2021. The empirical results show that foreign direct investment and financial development have a positive impact on green growth, whereas trade openness has a negative impact on green growth. From the previous study, the studies on the Malaysian IPS are rarely and did not yet sufficiently studied in the recent year. Therefore, this research attempts to investigate the factors that affect IPS Malaysia from the period of 1970 to 2020 by using ARDL approach and Toda Yamamoto causality test. The objective of this study is to examine the causality relationship and to investigate the existence of long run equilibrium relationship between IPS and the selected macroeconomic variables. From the result of long run model, financial development (FD), inflows of foreign direct investment (IFDI), tax burden (TB), economic stability (ES) and export (X) have long run relationship with IPS. | 9 | 2013 Article | Teachers’ attitudes towards co-curricular activities in selected schools Teng, Jane Yan Fang This study investigated the teachers_ attitudes towards co-curricular activities in schools. The aim of the paper was to highlight the teachers_ readiness, knowledge and commitment towards their involvement in cocurricular activities in schools. A total of 116 respondents participated in the survey. The findings showed that the teachers_ readiness of being involved in the activities of co-curricular was high (mean=4.00); their knowledge was found to be at high levels (mean=3.86) and their commitment was also at high levels (mean=3.86). The results of the study implied that the teachers_ attitudes towards the co-curricular activities influenced significantly the students_ performance at co-curricular activities. The students_ active participation in co-curricular activities served as the catalyst for students_ holistic development. The study focused on the evaluation into the aspects of challenges, ways to overcome challenges, benefits and the future plans for the programme. The study employed a mixed-method design in soliciting qualitative and quantitative data. This paper focuses on the evaluation using the qualitative method.
