2024 Article | FDI, trade, and finance catalysts for green growth in ASEAN-5 Tan, Yan-Teng Assuring economic growth and development without neglecting the requirement for environmental sustainability has become the most debatable topic in recent international forums. As a result, researchers and decision-makers are now focusing on green growth instead of traditional economic growth. Several factors that influence green growth have been studied in the literature to date, however, the impact of foreign direct investment, trade openness and financial development is relatively unexplored. Therefore, this study employs a fully modified ordinary least squares (FMOLS) estimator to investigate the impact of foreign direct investment, trade openness, and financial development on green economic growth for ASEAN-5 countries from 2010 to 2021. The empirical results show that foreign direct investment and financial development have a positive impact on green growth, whereas trade openness has a negative impact on green growth. Considering the results, this study recommends that policymak..... 178 hits
2004 Thesis | Voices of protest in selected poems of cecils Rajendra and Fan Yew Teng Mohammad Sidik Ariffin This study analyses a genre of literature, namely poems written in English by Malaysians who are concerned with issues of man and society. Selected from the anthologies of Cecil Rajendra and Fan Yew Teng, these poems touch on issues and problems from the social, political and economic aspects of Malaysian society and other nations where the issues are relevant. The study would be based on the critical theory of postmodernism, which is involved with contemporary affairs. An important aspect of postmodernism, in the arts and literature, is its definition by the philosopher, Jean François-Lyotard as "incredulity towards metanarratives". Postmodernists view with suspicion the grand narratives of history, ideology and the like since the narratives are a form of propaganda used to ensure stability and order. Postmodernism has a broad scope of concern especially for the dynamic global changes such as nuclear proliferation, war and environmentalism. From the analysis of the poems, it can be s..... 290 hits
2024 Article | Nanosheet zinc oxide synthesized by solution-immersion method for triboelectric nanogenerator Suriani Abu Bakar Most global problems are being solved by using sustainable energy harvesting technologies to retain the social ecosystem in great condition. The triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) which is a renewable energy harvesting device, collects the waste mechanical energy from its surroundings and performs the electric signal conversion. TENG have garnered increased attention in recent years by offering prospective use in energy harvesting technology. Particularly, there is a need for flexible energy conversion that serves as a power supply for portable electronic equipment. In this study, ZnO nanosheet thin film prepared on the flexible conductive aluminium foil through a low temperature immersion technique was used to generate electrical energy. The effect of heat treatment on ZnO nanosheet thin film was also investigated on the surface morphology, structural properties and nanogerator performance. The high density of interconnected ZnO nanosheet were observed before and after heat treatment ..... 120 hits
2024 Article | Polystyrene Waste-ZnO nanocomposite film for energy harvesting via hydrophobic triboelectric nanogenerator: Transforming waste into energy Suriani Abu Bakar This research aimed to generate electricity from polystyrene waste materials combined with zinc oxide (ZnO) nanomaterials. Developing alternative polystyrene waste materials for generating electricity in triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) could be beneficial in a circular economy and sustainable development. With the motivation to reduce environmental pollution by using polystyrene waste, a recycled polystyrene-ZnO nanocomposite film (rPS-ZnO NF) was synthesized and served as a triboelectric material for energy harvesting applications. ZnO nanopowder was produced by a low-temperature solution immersion method in conjunction with a simple film-casting method to prepare the rPS-ZnO NF. The effects of varying amounts of toluene as a solvent medium and the immersion time in stearic acid (SA) solution treatment on the structural properties, wettability behavior, surface morphology, chemical bonding properties, surface characteristics, and TENG performance were investigated. In this work, rP..... 108 hits
