This study examines the features of classicism in the work of Purananuru. The objective of this study is to identify the characteristics of classicism, analyze the characteristics of classicism and explain the uniqueness of the characteristics of classicism in the work of Purananuru. This study is based on eight features of classicism. This study uses source data taken from 400 poems found in the work of Purananuru. The analysis and discussion are made based on the Sevviyal Theory pioneered by Manavai Mustafa. This study uses a qualitative method that includes textual and descriptive analysis studies. The results show that Purananuru has eight sevviyal aspects namely thonmai, thanithanmai, pothupanpu, nadunilamai, panpaaddu kalai paddarivu velipadu, ilakkiya valam, uyarsinthanai and kalai ilakkiya thanithanmai velippadu pangkalippu.
