| 2023 Article | Acoustic Doppler effect experiment: integration of frequency sound generator, tracker and visual analyser Anis Nazihah Mat Daud This study was conducted to design an acoustic Doppler effect experimental setup by integrating the frequency sound generator application, tracker and visual analyser. The experimental setup was evaluated by determining the frequency of the sound source in four cases; (a) a stationary observer and a moving sound source, (b) a stationary sound source and a moving observer, (c) a sound source and an observer are moving in the same direction and (d) a sound source and an observer are moving in the opposite direction. The findings showed that the percentage errors for the calculated values of the sound source frequency were less than 0.40% compared to the reference values for all four cases. Hence, the proposed acoustic Doppler effect experimental setup can be used to improve the acoustic Doppler effect concept among students. 2023 IOP Publishing Ltd... 156 hits |
| 2023 Article | EM-FOR: simple and low-cost force on a straight current-carrying conductor in a magnetic field experimental kit Anis Nazihah Mat Daud In this study, we design and construct a low-cost experimental kit for the force on a straight current-carrying conductor in a magnetic field experiment, namely EM-FOR. The kit consists of several pairs of rectangular-shaped permanent magnets with different polarities facing each other on a U-shaped aluminium casing as the source of the magnetic field, a straight copper wire at the centre between the two magnets as the electrical conductor, conductor rings and connecting wires to connect conductor and electrical source, and an electronic balance to measure the magnitude and to determine the direction of the force on a straight current-carrying conductor in a magnetic field. The design of the EM-FOR experimental kit was validated by determining the magnitude and direction of the force on a straight current-carrying conductor in a magnetic field for normal and reverse connections to a power supply. The constructed kit can be utilized for three experiments: the effects of applied current,..... 166 hits |
| 2024 Article | Harmonic series experiments: end-correction factor of the Indonesian Angklung Anis Nazihah binti Mat Daud In this study, we employed the harmonic series experiment to determine the end correction factor of the Indonesian Angklung. Indonesian Angklung are categorized as one-closed-end resonance tubes and consist of different lengths that represent different musical notes. The end correction factor of the Indonesian Angklung is determined from the L-intercept of L res versus 1 f graph. The findings indicate that the experimental values of the end correction factor are less than 6.00% compared to theoretical values. Hence, the harmonic series experiment can be utilized to determine the end correction factor of the Indonesian Angklung. © 2024 IOP Publishing Ltd... 4 hits |
| 2024 Article | Local Culture Integration in Physics Experiments: Exploring Angklung with Arduino-Enhanced Frequency Measurement Anis Nazihah binti Mat Daud – Experimental activities in physics learning are important to encourage students to interact directly with physical phenomena. This study integrates local culture with technology through an innovative approach to the design of physics experiments. Arduino, a low-cost microcontroller, is extensively utilized for learning physics. The local culture examined in this study is Angklung, a traditional musical instrument from West Java, Indonesia. This study utilizes Arduino with a microphone sensor to design experiments investigating the sound produced by Angklung. The experimental activity aims to determine the frequency generated on each musical instrument on the diatonic Angklung and the factors that influence that frequency. The experimental results show that each musical instrument has a different frequency. Programming on Arduino is easy for students even though students do not have basic programming knowledge. The results of this study can be used as a reference for conducting alte..... 7 hits |
| 2024 Article | Integrating Traditional Musical Instrument into Mobile Augmented Reality: The Effect on Creative Thinking and Attitudes in Science Learning Anis Nazihah binti Mat Daud This study aims to investigate the integration of traditional musical instruments ‘Angklung’ and Mobile Augmented Reality (AR) in science learning activities. The activity is intended to stimulate students’ creative thinking and cultivate a positive attitude towards science learning. The instrument for measuring creative thinking consists of four essays based on indicators of creative thinking: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The instrument of students’ attitudes consists of relevance and satisfaction aspects, with nine questions for each aspect. The study used a one-group pre-and post-test design on 32 8th-grade students at one of the junior high schools in West Java Province, Indonesia. The study procedure is a pre-test, learning activity using Mobile AR, post-test, and survey distribution. The study found differences in the pre-and post-test scores of students, with N-gain scores for all indicators of creative thinking ranging from 0.41 to 0.48, including..... 7 hits |
