Hubungan faktor kebergunaan, kemudahgunaan dan sikap serta kepuasan guru data dan maklumat terhadap emis online

Abstract

Kajian ini menentukan hubungan antara faktor penerimaan kebergunaan, kemudahgunaan dan sikap dengan kepuasan Guru Data dan Maklumat (GDM) terhadap penggunaan EMIS Online dalam pengurusan data dan maklumat pendidikan di sekolah. Kajian tinjauan secara kuantitatif telah dilaksanakan melibatkan 120 orang GDM sekolah menengah di Pahang. Statistik deskriptif, inferensi korelasi Pearson dan regresi linear digunakan untuk menganalisis data. Dapatan menunjukkan tahap penerimaan GDM terhadap EMIS Online adalah tinggi. Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan positif antara faktor kebergunaan dan kemudahgunaan terhadap sikap GDM dalam menggunakan EMIS Online. Sikap juga mempengaruhi kepuasan GDM dalam menggunakan sistem ini. Bagaimanapun, perbezaan signifikan min sikap hanya wujud antara GDM berumur antara 31-35 tahun dan 36-40 tahun. Development of computer-based acoustic characterisation of medical phantom

Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop a computerised measurement system for acoustic characterisation of medical phantom. The method used is the adaptation of insertion technique and the introduction of the stepped shape design of sample into the system. The developed system consists of an ultrasonic pulser/receiver, two transducers, a digital oscilloscope, a thermometer and a computer. Special computer interfacing is used in the system software development. The resulted software display contains the connection and control panel, the display panel and the calculation panel. The block diagram for software algorithm contains the connection block, the signal acquisition display block, the analysis block and the help block. Abstract

Kajian ini menganalisis pengamalan dalam kalangan ibu bapa suku Banjar dalam mendidik anak-anak agar patuh kepada ajaran Islam. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah kuantitatif yang melibatkan 160 responden dalam kalangan pelajar sekolah menengah dalam kalangan suku kaum Banjar Daerah Kerian, Perak. Hasil kajian mendapati ibu bapa suku Banjar bersikap tegas dan istiqamah dalam mengajar, mendidik dan menasihatkan anak-anak dari aspek akidah, syariat dan akhlak. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan 97% responden suku Banjar mengajar solat sejak kecil hingga baligh, 98% menanamkan akidah dengan betul, 99% dilatih menghormati dan menyayangi orang tua, 72% mengajar mengaji al-Quran sehingga tamat, 93% dilatih berpuasa sejak kecil dan 89% dilatih berpakaian menutup aurat. Synthesis, spectroscopic studies and biological activities of acylthiourea derivatives as potential anti-bacteria agents

Abstract

Thiourea is known to be a unique class of organic compounds especially acylthiourea since they consist excellent Hbonds donor and acceptor where it has strong ability to form metal complexation with various metal salts. Therefore, six members of acylthiourea derivatives (TH1-TH6) have been successfully synthesized and characterised using selected spectroscopic and analytical methods namely Fourier-Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, UV-visible (UV-vis) spectrophotometer, and CHNS elemental analysis. In turn, all the synthesised TH1-TH6 were used to investigate the anti-bacterial activity towards selected bacteria of both Gram-negative and positive namely Salmonella typhi and Bacillus cereus respectively. Effectiveness of multi-frames video recorded experiments on pre-university students achievement for capacitor topic

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of multi-frames video recorded experiments (MFVREs) on pre-university students’ achievement for capacitor topic. This study was carried out among 60 Diploma Science students of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia. Students’ pre-test and post-test scores were analyzed using independent sample t-test. The effectiveness of MFVREs on students’ achievement were analyzed for four subtopics of capacitor: basic concept of capacitor (S1), series connection of capacitors (S2), parallel connection of capacitors (S3) and combination of series and parallel connection of capacitors (S4). Findings revealed that MFVREs give significant effects on students’ achievement for S2, S3 and S4 subtopics but no significant effect to students’ achievement for S1 subtopic compared to PowerPoint slides. Identification of Tacca chantrieri (dioscoreaceae) through anatomical and morphological characters

Abstract

Anatomy and morphological characters were employed to identify four samples of Tacca sp. (Belimbing Tanah) from different localities in Perak. Anatomical characters including leaf epidermal characters, leaf venation, type of stomata and trichomes were investigated through transverse sections, epidermal peel and leaf clearing procedures. The outline and vascularization of the sections were also investigated. Result has shown that Tacca from four different localities in Perak were similar anatomically. However, morphologically these four species can be differentiated mostly based on their leaves, flowers and fruits. The leaf margins are slightly different of either entire or denticulate, and the colours of floral bracts are either purplish-black or purplish-black at the base gradually turns white to the apex. Abstract

Business diversification has drawn attention of strategic management and finance scholars. This study examines relationship between diversification effect on performance using multiple measures of performance namely accounting and market measurements. The study used panel data analysis for a sample of 70 Malaysian firms from various industries during the period 2001 to 2005. The evidence produces some interesting findings with regard to risk factors and effect on firm’s performance while other factors are consistent with previous findings. In particular, firms that adopt the focused strategy perform better than those with diversified strategy. Preliminary toxicity test and phytochemical screening of Sargassum polycystum crude extracts from marine macroalgae

Abstract

Sargassum polycystum is a species of brown algae (Phaeophyta). Some recent studies have found many uses of this algae, one of them is for medicine. In this study, crude hexane, dichloromethane and methanol extracts of Sargassum polycystum were tested for toxicity activity and screened for its principal chemical substances. The toxicity test was done using Brine Shrimp Lethality (BSL) test against Artemia salina Leach. The results of this study showed the LC50 value of methanol extract was 295.12 mgml-1, while both hexane and dichloromethane extracts were 275.42 mgml-1. The BSL test exhibited no significant toxicity against A.salina. Phytochemical screening shows S. polycystum contained non polar and polar components. Phase-controlled converter for Nd:YAG laser flashlamp driver

Abstract

Phase-controlled technique through thyristors (SCR) is used instead of diodes in order to form a power converter. Output voltage of this power converter can be varied by controlling the firing angle of SCR and is used to charge the capacitor banks. Each firing angles are referred to zero-crossing point of each half of the 50 Hz AC voltage. Adjustable voltage is then used to charge the capacitor bank inside Capacitor Charging Power Supply (CCPS) for Xenon flashlamp driver. Flashlamp produced source of pulsed light that pumped the Nd:YAG laser crystal. The Nd:YAG laser usually operates at various input energies, thus requiring variable values of voltage to charge the capacitor bank.
