This research intends to find out the factor that factor that cause student from Southern Thailand to choose the Malay Language Program as their study in the university. The researches uses in survey method and employs the survey and interview as instruments to obtain data. The research samples are 99 students from Southern Thailand who are taking the Malay Language Program at the Faculty of Language, prince of Songkhla University in Southern Thailand and at the faculty of Language University Sultan Idris, Tanjong Malim, Malaysia. The researcher works on four hypotheses that cause students from Southern Thailand to learn the Malay Language: Social Factor, Attitude, Economy and Politic. This study aims to model the shape of a normal red blood cell (RBC) and two shapes of sickle cells using the partial differential equation (PDE). The development of this technique was based on the use of an elliptic PDE and a set of four periodic boundary conditions. The PDE method can generate surfaces of geometries from a small number of parameters. Furthermore, the shape of the surfaces generated by the PDE method is based on a boundary representation and can easily be modified since it is characterized by data distributed around the boundaries. In this study, the shapes of the generated PDE-based representation of a normal RBC and sickle cell has been sketched by using MATLAB program. The fmdings showed that the PDE method is suitable for representing the shape of a normal RBC and sickle cells. This phenomenological study explores the beliefs and practices of New Zealand early childhood teachers in supporting English acquisition for Asian immigrant English language learners (ELLs). The focus of the study is on the analysis of early childhood teachers' beliefs about how they can support English acquisition among Asian immigrant ELLs and how these beliefs influence the teachers' practices in early childhood education (EeE) settings. The theoretical framework of this research draws on a range of sociocultural perspectives, including (i) the sociocultural positions initially defined by Lev Vygostky (1978), (ii) the notion of guided participation articulated by Barbara Rogoff (2003), (iii) theories of second language acquisition discussed by Lantolf and Thorne (2000), and by Krashen (1982, 1985), and (iv) acculturation as addressed by Berry (2001). This thesis furnishes a clear idea on the current scenario of word-formation in Tamil, particularly in the Malaysian context. A total of 496 words have been collected as data for this study from the nationwide published Malaysian Tamil newspaper; 'Malaysia Nanban'. This study by and large answered technical questions: word-formation processes, genres and classes of words and identifying linguistic and grammatical weakness and conflicts. Field study has been conducted to answer social questions such as: attitudes of language users, their expectation and suggestions for better word-formation in Tamil. It was found that the language users were not very satisfied with the current progress of word-formation in Tamil. The result obtained from the questionnaire demonstrates that the language users are supportive of language development, particularly in word-formation. Kajian ini dijalankan untuk mengenal pasti kefahaman dan kesilapan pelajar Tingkatan Empat dalam menyelesaikan masalah kebarangkalian. Kajian ini berfokuskan kepada tiga persoalan kajian. Kajian ini melibatkan seramai 50 orang responden dari sebuah sekolah menengah di sekitar daerah Bera, Pahang dengan mengedarkan instrumen kajian iaitu Probability Assessment Test. Enam orang pelajar yang dipilih secara bertujuan daripada sampel yang telah menjawab instrumen kajian ditemu bual untuk meneroka kefahaman dan kesilapan mereka tentang kebarangkalian. Hasil kajian mendapati tahap pemahaman pelajar dalam tajuk kebarangkalian masih pada tahap yang lemah dan perlu diperbaiki. The objective of this study is to examine the effects of semantic mapping on the reading comprehension of scientific texts among Matriculation college students. This study sought to determine if there are any benefits in instructing Matriculation students to use semantic mapping as means of improving their comprehension of information in scientific texts. The sample consisted of 60 Matriculation students in two different Biology Science classes from Perak Matriculation College (KMPk). One class was assigned as the experimental group, while the other class as the control group. Both experimental and control groups were given the pretest and posttest. The experimental group received the semantic mapping training while the control group did not receive any special training except for normal learning sessions. The uses of learning materials and learning styles are among the domineering factors in shaping the students’ best achievements in examinations. This research was carried out with the purpose to find out the types of learning materials and learning styles used among the non - Malay students. 60 non-Malay form four students, taken from two schools in the Lipis District, Pahang were selected to be the samples. The information was gathered through questionnaires and interviews. A few methods have been selected to analyze the data. The methods used are frequency statistics, percentage, correlation, and one way ANOVA. The findings of this research shows that, there is a significant relation between the frequent uses of Bahasa Melayu reading materials, academic and non-academic magazines and also the frequent reading of additional reading materials related to Bahasa Melayu subject, towards the increasing of achievement for Bahasa Melayu subject in their previous form four examination. This research uses the survey technique with regards to form 5 students’ mastery, attitude and views on Malay idiomatic phrases in two schools in the distict of Raub, Pahang. 60 students of different gender, race and location (address) were used on research samples. Two instruments were used to measure students mastery of Malay idiomatic expression i.e questionaires and 24 questions in the form of questions from idioms, sayings, similes and proverbs. The data obtained from the study will be processed using ‘Statistical Packages for the Social Sciences’ version 10.0 an analysis software. Based on the analysis of the form 5 bahasa Melayu text book, there are 39 idiomatic expressions. The results of the research too shows that, many students like learning idiomatic expressions but many do not tend to use them in conversations.
