The implemention of total productive maintenance in Malaysia automotive industry

The purpose of this paper is to determine the implementation of total productive maintenance in Malaysian automotive industry. 400 questionnaires were distributed to Malaysian automotive industry and 229 were completed, giving a response rate of 57.25%. Based on the developed models, the results of the study provide guidance for effective implementation of total productive maintenance in Malaysian automotive industry. This study makes a new contribution to the Malaysian automotive industry for total productive maintenance implementation. Working capital management and financial performance of Malaysian construction sector companies

This study examines the effects of working capital management on financial performance of construction companies listed in Bursa Malaysia for the period of 2012 to 2016. The findings show that only a shortening collection period and a positive working capital are significant to improve financial performance of local construction firms. An effective working capital management however does not contribute significantly to operating cash flow and share price of construction firms in Malaysia. Investigating the relationship between teacher quality and students academic performance with empowerment as a mediator

Empowerment is the delegation of power to teachers for sustainability of education system. When teachers are empowered, students’ academic performance will improve. The study investigated the relationship between teacher quality and students’ academic performance with empowerment as a mediator. About 379 teachers were selected randomly from public secondary schools, Kwara state, Nigeria. Structural equation model was utilized to test the hypothesized model. Based on the result of the study, teacher quality was positively related to students’ academic performance which meant that quality of teachers determine the success of students. Insignificant relationship was found between teacher quality and principal empowerment practices which showed that the relationship did not exist. Also, the relationship between principal empowerment practices and students’ academic performance was tested of which the results revealed as insignificant. With consideration to research nature, scope of available materials and industrial feature, we investigate cultivation of professionals in the three new marine industries such as marine energy, marine bio-industry and submarine hydrothermal deposits development. More specific, we investigate trends of marine science and technology manpower at the national level in Korea nurturing policy to forecast mid and long term expert manpower demand and to respond to trends and forecasts of major fields. Cultivation of necessary professionals is an essential prerequisite for growth of new marine industry and its contribution to national economy. Because the new marine industry was recently introduced, the established system and policies for professionals in science and technology did not reflect demand for this new industry, which requires improvement. Exploring Malaysian E-commerce taxation: a qualitative insight of online businesses

Electronic commerce (e-commerce) is mushrooming in today’s digital world across continents. However, this phenomenon seems not reflective of the tax collected, especially from consumer-to-consumer (C2C) online business transactions. Considering this issue, this paper focuses on the area of C2C business transactions. Our aims are to determine the level of understanding of e-commerce taxation of the students who involved in online businesses during their study years, and to gauge their attitude towards implementation of e-commerce taxation in Malaysia by relating to the existing e-commerce tax rules and regulations. Using an exploratory study approach, a total of six interviews were conducted with students on whether or not their online business income was reported to the tax authority. The results suggested that there was a lack of awareness amongst students concerning the compliance of e-commerce taxation. This paper aims to highlight the substance of considering students’ perceptions of modern approach teaching and learning process. Spatial river water quality assessment in Tanjung Malim, Perak (Malaysia) using multivariate statistical analysis

In this study, water samples from river in Tanjung Malim were analyzed for demand (BOD), dissolved oxygen (DO), ammoniacal nitrogen (NH3-N), total dissolved solid (TDS), suspended solid (SS), pH, and heavy metals including Cd, Cu, Pb, Mn, and Fe. The variations in these parameters were evaluated with the chemometric technique. The results from the principal component analysis revealed that variations in heavy metal concentrations were attributed to the automobile industry, and differences in DO, BOD, TSS, TDS, NH3-N were due to the activities along the river bank. The levels of Cd and Pb recorded in the periods under study were higher than the reference limits. These results indicate pollution of the river water especially in the month of Jan 2018, which implies that both aquatic organisms and humans could be at risk exposure to toxic metals.  ..
