Aesthetics of life in landscape poetry by Nam Chou Poets (1973-1990)

Abstract

The classical landscape poetry has its own function of aesthetics of life according to the traditional Chinese literary criticism. This thesis explores the structure of aesthetics of life of the contemporary classical landscape poetry created by the Nam Chou Poetry Anthology in Malaysia from 1973 to 1990. To expose the nature of the structure, this thesis also indicates it from the perspective of aesthetics of life of Tang's landscape poetry. Throughout the study, the implication of the Nam Chou Poetry's landscape poetry can be divided thematically into three phases: the Autumn Period (1973), the Mount and Water Period (1974-1980), and the Mount Period (1981-1990). However, the nature of the whole landscape poetries can be aesthetically summarized as quite similar to the leisure poetry of the great landscape poet in the Tang, Bai Juyi (772-846), which is smooth and graceful in feeling and its beauty, plain and fascinating. Abstract

Kajian ini bertujuan membina instrumen penilaian murid tingkatan 4 bagi pembelajaran algebra dalam Matematik dan Matematik Tambahan. Topik-topik yang dikaji bagi subjek Matematik adalah Ungkapan dan Persamaan Kuadratik dan Garis Lurus. Manakala bagi subjek Matematik Tambahan, topik-topik yang dikaji adalah Fungsi, Persamaan Kuadratik, Fungsi Kuadratik, Persamaan Serentak dan Indeks dan Logaritma. Kaedah yang digunakan untuk membina instrumen dalam kajian ini melibatkan dua fasa, iaitu kajian literatur dan kajian rintis. Dapatan daripada kajian literatur telah mengenal pasti lima konstruk, iaitu minat, gaya pembelajaran, pengetahuan asas menengah rendah, penggunaan bahan bantu mengajar dalam pengajaran dan isi kandungan algebra. Basic science process skills test for primary schools item development and validation

Abstract

This paper reports the development and validation of a test that measures the whole range of basic science process skills as stipulated in the Malaysian science curricula and that is suitable for Malaysian upper primary school students. In the instrument development phase, 58-item Basic Science Process Skills (BSPS) Test was generated according to a set of a priori indicators. These items were vetted by two reviewers consisting of experienced primary science teachers to ensure content validity and to establish inter-rater reliability (or, degree of agreement). The analysis of inter-rater agreement in categorisation of basic science process skills items yielded a Cohen’s Kappa value of 0.877, p = .000 < .001. The BSPS Test was then field tested with a group of 197 upper primary students (Grades/Years 4-6, or aged 10- 12) that represents top, average, and bottom sets. An overview of current tax incentives matters among companies in Malaysia

Abstract

The Earth is sick! The fact of climate change is now widely accepted by every major scientific body universally. The environment is positing challenges to everyone. People around the world have taken notice of the world's ills, and major governments are working on solutions to curb with the pressing issues to slow down the effects and begin to shape a better world for the future. Some of the initiatives by the Malaysian Government is the introduction of tax incentives among the companies. This study aims to provide an overview of the current tax incentive issues among companies in Malaysia. Purposive sampling method was adopted to collect responses from Malaysian companies by using a semi-structured questionnaire. The results reveal that majority of the companies acknowledged the predicament of rising production cost and emerging environmental issues yet most of them are unaware about the tax incentives offered by the Government. Abstract

Sentimen perpaduan di negara berbilang kaum seperti di Malaysia seringkali menjadi isu yang perlu diambil berat. Dalam konteks negara yang mempunyai masyarakat yang berbilang kaum, budaya dan agama, integrasi kaum dijadikan elemen penting dan tonggak asas dalam kestabilan negara. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana pelaksanaan pendidikan sastera menerusi teks Komsas mampu memupuk perpaduan pelajar sekolah menengah bawah di Merlimau, Melaka. Teori Weiner (1965) diaplikasikan dalam kajian ini untuk menilai pelaksanaan pendidikan teks Komsas tersebut. Soal selidik digunakan instrumen kajian untuk mengutip data daripada 103 orang pelajar Tingkatan Dua yang mempunyai latar belakang yang berbeza dari segi kaum dan pendapatan keluarga/SES. Modelling the relationship among servant leadership, organisational citizenship behaviour and teacher commitment

Abstract

This study was aimed to develop an empirically substantiated Language Subject Leader Servant Leadership Attributes (SLSLA) Model. The study also aspired to test the model of Malay Language Subject Panel Head Organisational Citizenship Behaviour (SPHOCB) and Teacher Commitment (TEACOM). Meanwhile, it also aimed to identify whether SLSLA is significantly related to SPHOCB and whether the SPHOCB is significantly related to TEACOM. Ultimately, this study aimed to ascertain whether SPHOCB significantly mediate the relationship between SLSLA and TEACOM. Quantitative approach with Structural Equation Modelling using AMOS Version 21 was applied to test the models. A total of 820 Malay Language teachers from 198 National Secondary Schools completed the questionnaire. Kaedah pengajaran dan pembelajaran (PdP) yang sesuai perlu digunakan bagi mencungkil potensi dan menarik minat kanak-kanak. Kaedah bermain dikenal pasti sebagai salah satu pendekatan PdP yang berkesan. Oleh itu, kajian ini dijalankan untuk mengenal pasti pelaksanaan pendekatan bermain dalam PdP Bahasa Melayu murid prasekolah, dan menganalisis hubungan antara sikap dan motivasi guru dengan pelaksanaan pendekatan bermain dalam PdP Bahasa Melayu murid prasekolah. Kajian ini melibatkan 66 orang guru prasekolah di Kuala Lumpur dengan menggunakan persampelan bertujuan. Kajian ini menggunakan soal selidik sebagai instrumen dalam pengumpulan data kajian. Accomplishment and Influence in the Study of Chinese Humanities

The study of Chinese humanities has always not been exclusive to Chinese scholars of China. With substantial achievements in the study of Chinese humanities, any scholar, Chinese or non-Chinese, could play an important role with his/her influence. Wherever this kind of scholars goes, the place accordingly becomes the center of the study of Chinese humanities. The center of the study of Chinese humanities relies on the accomplished scholars, has nothing to do with geographic regions. Those scholars in Chinese humanities who are outside China, especially those who are in the Chinese-speaking world outside China, have played an important role in the study of Chinese humanities. Given the new ideological trend in China and its domestic and global impact, the scholars in Chinese humanities outsideChina, together with Chinese scholars without nationalist mentality, should make further contributions to the study of Chinese humanities and play an influential role.
