Does religiosity matter in the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0?

Abstract

Since the hype of Industrial Revolution 4.0 that was brought up by Klaus Schwab in 2016, once again the question of values and beliefs becomes a debate. If religiosity is sidelined in our efforts to automate services and let machines do the jobs of human, then human will truly be substituted by artificial intelligence (AI). Does religiosity matter and can it play a role in the new industry revolution? This study will explore the impact of religiosity towards Muslim officers’ work behaviour in the higher learning institutions in Malaysia. Through in-depth interviews and thematic analysis, this study found that religiosity has an impact on the respondents’ work behaviour to a certain degree. Five themes emerged from the thematic analysis: religiosity, personality, competency, environment, and leadership. Dialogue journal writing via e-mail and its effects on ESL students writing skills

Abstract

This study aims to find out the effectiveness of dialogue journal writing via e-mail on students’ English writing development. The evaluation was done by looking at the writing qualities that include overall effectiveness, the development of topic selection, the ability to control the sentence structure and grammar and the use of vocabulary. This study was conducted for five weeks and a total of 60 e-mail dialogue journal entries were gathered. Besides that, a questionnaires session was conducted after the e-mail dialogue journal writing session. The findings revealed that dialogue journal writing via e-mail activity helps to develop students’ writing skills in relation to writing quality and quantity. The study also revealed that e-mail dialogue journal writing activity encourages students to write as they are free to choose their own topics. The praimary objective of this research is to analyse user satisfaction towards a prototype software called Perisian Multimedia Info GERKO among teachers trainee in three(3)TeacherTraining Collages/Institutes in north peninsular of Malaysia. This quantitative study is among trainee teachers in Maktab/Institut Perguruan Perlis (MPP), Maktab/Institut Perguruan Tuanku Bainun (MPTB) and Maktab/Institut Perguruan Ipoh Perak (MPIP). The sampel are among 238 trainee teachers from five (5) uniform units namely, Pergerakan Pandu Puteri Malaysai (PPPM), Pergerakan Puteri Islam Malaysia (PPIM), Pertubuhan Pengakap Malaysia, Pasukan Bulan Sabit Merah (PBSM) and St John Ambulans Malaysia (SJAM). Abstract

This research uses the survey technique with regards to form 5 students’ mastery, attitude and views on Malay idiomatic phrases in two schools in the distict of Raub, Pahang. 60 students of different gender, race and location (address) were used on research samples. Two instruments were used to measure students mastery of Malay idiomatic expression i.e questionaires and 24 questions in the form of questions from idioms, sayings, similes and proverbs. The data obtained from the study will be processed using ‘Statistical Packages for the Social Sciences’ version 10.0 an analysis software. Based on the analysis of the form 5 bahasa Melayu text book, there are 39 idiomatic expressions. The results of the research too shows that, many students like learning idiomatic expressions but many do not tend to use them in conversations. Abstract

Kajian ini dilaksanakan bertujuan menyelidik persepsi anggota Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) berkenaan dengan pemilihan kerjaya selepas bersara dalam bidang pendidikan. Kajian ini untuk menentukan tahap kecenderungan responden dalam memilih profesion pendidik sebagai kerjaya kedua. Metodologi kajian menggunakan kaedah kuantitatif secara tinjauan dengan borang soal selidik yang melibatkan seramai 297 anggota ATM dari pelbagai pangkat yang sedang mengikuti Program Latihan Peralihan Sesi 2015/2016 di Perbadanan Hal Ehwal Bekas Tentera (PERHEBAT), Sungai Buloh, Selangor. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa sebanyak 239 responden (80.4%) mempunyai kecenderungan untuk memilih kerjaya sebagai pendidik bagi kerjaya kedua mereka. The impact of work overload and job involvement on work family conflict among malaysian doctors

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between work overload and job involvement with the two dimensions of work-family conflict [work interference with family (WIF) and family interference with work (FIW)]. The sample comprised of 391 local doctors working full-time in nineteen public hospitals in Peninsular Malaysia. Statistical results using regression analysis indicated that work overload was positively related to both work interference with family (WIF) and family interference with work (FIW). On the other hand, job involvement was found to have no significant impact on the two forms of work-family conflict.
