2024 Article | The influence of introversion and extroversion personality traits on student technostress, satisfaction, and performance expectancy: A multigroup analysis Noor Hadzlida Ayob This study aims to examine the influence of personality traits, specifically introversion and extroversion, on the relationship between technostress, satisfaction, and performance expectancy of students. Data from 234 university students were collected and analyzed using the partial least square structural equation modeling approach. The findings reveal no significant difference between introverted and extroverted students in terms of techno-overload and techno-insecurity. However, a notable difference is observed in the context of techno-complexity, where introverted students are more affected by it compared with extroverted students. This could be attributed to introverted students who tend to face challenges alone and find it difficult to ask for help, whereas the extroverted ones are more inclined to ask for assistance when facing technological challenges. Consequently, it is recommended that instructors provide clear explanations on how to use learning technology applications befo..... 252 hits
2024 Article | Students’ digital citizenship in ubiquitous technology: A comprehensive model based on DC-REP framework, internet attitudes, computer self-efficacy, and internet skills Noor Banu Mahadir Naidu The pervasive presence of the internet in educational environments presents a multiplicity of challenges, particularly in fostering students’ responsible and ethical digital citizenship. While existing research investigates digital citizenship, few studies have examined internet skills and computer self-efficacy as mediating factors between students’ internet attitudes and their digital citizenship levels. This study proposes a novel conceptual model, the DC-REP model, rooted in the Respect, Educate, and Protect (REP) framework. The model assesses students’ digital citizenship, focusing on their internet attitudes, mediated by both computer self-efficacy and internet skills. Employing a diverse sample of 581 students from secondary schools across Central Java, Indonesia, and utilizing Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with a reflective embedded two-stage approach, the study reveals the robustness and favorable fit of the DC-REP model, exhibiting moderat..... 168 hits

This study explores whether student valence, influenced by hologram tutor character appearance, significantly mediates the relationship between character realism and emotions in student learning. Objectives: The study aimed to determine whether valence acts as a significant mediator in the relationship between the appearance designs of three hologram tutor characters and students' overall enjoyment in learning. Methods: We employed a quasi-experimental design for this study to examine the relationship between hologram tutors and their effectiveness across three different levels of character realism. A total of 90 higher education institute students participated in the research. The data collection process utilised the Self-Assessment Manikin (SAM) and the Achie..... 109 hits |
2024 Article | The effectiveness of the Local Knowledge-Based Module (LKBM) to improve students’ scientific literacy and thinking skills Norazilawati Abdullah Scientific literacy is an essential 21st-century skill that students must master. Scientific literacy is the proficiency to engage with scientific ideas and knowledge that shapes the student’s ability to interpret and evaluate data within scientific inquiry and make decisions regarding natural change, human activities, and technology. In addition to scientific literacy, thinking skills are crucial in the current era. Thinking skills help students solve social, scientific, and practical problems. Therefore, the current research objective is to test the effectiveness of the localbased knowledge module as a learning media to enhance student scientific literacy and thinking skills in Kupang Regency. 78 elementary school students in Kupang, Indonesia, were involved. They were selected based on the random sampling method and divided into experimental and control groups. The data were collected before using the module, during the use of the module, and after using the module. The instrument..... 147 hits
2024 Article | Using attentional guidance methods in virtual reality laboratories reduces students’ cognitive load and improves their academic performance Ahmad Zamzuri Mohamad Ali Learning in virtual reality laboratories (VR labs) has become an important method in experimental teaching but can increase individuals’ cognitive load compared with traditional laboratories. This study analysed the effect of introducing an attentional guidance mechanism into a VR lab on students’ cognitive load and academic performance. We designed and developed two VR labs, one with and one without this attentional guidance stimulus (a 3D yellow arrow). A quasi-experimental design was adopted, and the data obtained were analysed using one-way ANOVA and linear regression. The experiment was conducted with 80 students majoring in digital media art at two universities. The results indicated that the students in the VR lab with the attentional guidance mechanism included exhibited lower cognitive load and higher academic performance than the control group. The regression analyses revealed that cognitive load negatively predicted learning outcomes; that is, academic performance improv..... 155 hits
2024 Article | Harmonic series experiments: end-correction factor of the Indonesian Angklung Anis Nazihah binti Mat Daud In this study, we employed the harmonic series experiment to determine the end correction factor of the Indonesian Angklung. Indonesian Angklung are categorized as one-closed-end resonance tubes and consist of different lengths that represent different musical notes. The end correction factor of the Indonesian Angklung is determined from the L-intercept of L res versus 1 f graph. The findings indicate that the experimental values of the end correction factor are less than 6.00% compared to theoretical values. Hence, the harmonic series experiment can be utilized to determine the end correction factor of the Indonesian Angklung. © 2024 IOP Publishing Ltd... 135 hits
2024 Article | An integrated framework of online learning effectiveness in institutions of higher learning Mohamad Rohieszan Ramdan In the early stages of adopting online learning, both learners and teachers displayed resistance, but the COVID-19 pandemic has forced a widespread shift to digital learning. To facilitate this transition, there is a growing focus on highlighting the effectiveness of online learning, which directly impacts learning outcomes. This study investigates online learning effectiveness through an integrated framework that considers online assessment practices and online course design as independent variables, with online learning support as a moderating variable. Understanding the effectiveness of online learning is crucial as hybrid learning becomes the "new norm" in education, combining online and offline methods for teaching the digital generation. Using a quantitative research design involving 232 students at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, the study found that online assessment practices and course design significantly influence students perceived learning outcomes in an online learning e..... 192 hits
2024 Article | The relationship between instrumental and integrative motivation on students’ writing ability Mohamed Nor Azhari Azman The question of which motivation is more prevalent among learners has been heavily debated. This study aimed to determine the link between instrumental and integrative motivation and learners' writing performance. The participants were 75 L2 students from one of Palangka Raya's Islamic Institutes. The data were gathered via a questionnaire and writing. Normality, linearity, multicollinearity, elasticity, and autocorrelation were also calculated as assumption tests. Multiple linear regression was used in the analysis. The findings revealed that instrumental motivation (x2) contributed 70.15% to writing performance, while integrative motivation (x1) contributed 17.03%. The effective contribution was 87.00% in total. The r-square value was also 0.87. Instrumental (x1) and integrative (x2) motivations accounted for 87.00% of the variance in writing performance (y). Overall, motivation was found to significantly impact learners' writing performance (F= 244.87, p = 0.00). This indicated that..... 131 hits

2024 Article | Knowledge distillation and transfer learning combined for innovative visualization teaching of non-heritage designs Ahmad Nizam Othman This study introduces a novel approach by combining knowledge distillation and transfer learning to create a model that, despite its smaller size, approaches the accuracy of its much larger counterparts. It leverages a trained model from a source domain (teacher) to enhance an untrained model in a target domain (student) with significantly fewer parameters. Through transfer learning, we utilize pre-trained deep learning model parameters as initial values. This paper also explores integrating intangible cultural heritage (ICH) information with school curricula, transforming traditional knowledge presentation into intuitive, personalized displays. Our findings highlight that ICH visualization spans nine categories, with traditional arts and crafts leading with 25 items. Interestingly, only 22.58% of students understand Native American culture, pointing towards the potential for educational enhancement. The research suggests designing curriculum with varied teaching activities to improve ..... 124 hits
