The objective of this study is to investigate the English as Second Language teachers’ knowledge and ability in implementing School-Based Assessment (SBA). It is also to identify the challenges and their recommendations to improve its implementation. A qualitative research design was chosen to answer three research questions. Three sets of instruments were utilized to measure teachers’ knowledge and ability. Seven ESL teachers were selected as purposive sampling in the study from two secondary schools which were selected from one of the districts in Selangor. This case study participants were employed to be in the interview to gain a better insightful explanation on the challenges and suggestions of the implementation of SBA. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations and document analyses. Kajian ini dijalankan untuk mengkaji penerapan Pendidikan Matematik Realistik Indonesia (PMRI) dalam pengajaran matematik di sekolah rendah di Indonesia. Kajian ini meliputi perancangan, pelaksanaan dan mengenal pasti masalah yang dihadapi guru. Reka bentuk kajian adalah kajian kualitatif kaedah dengan kajian kes. Pemilihan peserta kajian dijalankan secara persampelan bertujuan iaitu melibatkan tiga orang guru matematik sekolah rendah di daerah Banjarmasin, Indonesia. Pengumpulan data didapati melalui pemerhatian pengajaran kelas, temu bual pra dan pasca pengajaran dan analisis dokumen. Proses pemerhatian kepada setiap peserta dilaksanakan sebanyak tiga kali proses pengajaran kelas. Sesi temu bual dijalankan sebelum dan selepas sesi pemerhatian pengajaran kelas. The main aim of this research is to propose an alternative method for estimating relative risk of mosquito-borne infectious disease mapping in Malaysia. This estimation method is based on stochastic SIR-SI model (susceptible-infectiverecovered for human populations; susceptible-infective for mosquito populations). Based on previous research, relative risk estimation used total number of new infective cases at the denominator of the relative risk equation. In this research, relative risk estimation with the used of total posterior mean number of new infective cases at the denominator of the relative risk equation is introduced. This model is then been applied using data of mosquito-borne infectious disease from Malaysia. Data used in this research is provided by the Ministry of Health Malaysia which include 43339 dengue cases, 7 chikungunya cases and 3850 malaria cases for 16 states in Malaysia during year 2013. This study investigates the effectiveness of durian tree sawdust (DTS), coconut coir (CC) and oil palm empty fruit bunch (EFB) as amendment agents for the remediation of metal contaminated soil. Three main aspects namely characterisation, adsorption and pot experiment were studied. The characterisation study was carried out using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) Spectrometer and Fourier Transformed Infrared (FTIR) Spectrometer. The influence of two experimental parameters, namely solution pH and initial metal concentration on adsorption process was assessed in batch experiment. The adsorption behaviour of Cu(II), Pb(II) and Zn(II) onto DTS, CC and EFB was evaluated using the Langmuir and Freundlich equilibrium isotherm models. Two sets of pot experiment were carried out for 8 weeks at three rates of application, namely 0, 1 and 3% (w/w) to evaluate the ability of amendment agents to immobilise metals in contaminated soil. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Kaizen Event (KE), and Innovation Performance (IP). This quantitative study developed a model for the Malaysian automotive industry which incorporates the three element. Survey questionnaires were used to investigate the relationship between the implementation of TPM, KE, and IP in 161 automotive supplier companies. Structural equation model technique was used to test the statistical analysis of the data required in the study. In order to test the reliability and validity of the instrument, reliability analysis, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were conducted. Findings reveal that KE does not affect the relationship between TPM and IP. However, the study suggests that KE assists in improving IP when coupled with TPM. In short, this is a comprehensive research which has undergone detailed methodology and analysis and contributed to the limited existing lit.....

This thesis examines four questions in the field of executive stock option plans: the legal framework governing their use in Malaysia, their effects on firm performance, managerial turnover and the tax effects. The research presented in this thesis extends the literature on stock options in these directions. Owing to the dearth of studies that have examined the issue of stock option plans, as well as the uniqueness of the Malaysian corporate environment which is dominated by family controlled firms. Using standard event study methodology, in the short-term, the results indicate a negative share price before announcement and a slight positive effect following the announcement. The announcement, however, does not carry any surprise to the market and this seemingly confirms that early information releases before official announcement could be ruled out. Biomedical grade of titanium alloys are prone to undergo degradation in body fluid environment. Surface coating such as Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) can serve as one of the alternatives to minimize this issue. Past reports highlighted that coated PVD.layer consists of pores, pin holes and columnar growth which act as channels for the aggressive medium to attack the substrate. Duplex and multilayer coatings seem able to address this issue at certain extent but at the expense of manufacturing time and cost. In the present work, the effect of ultrasonic vibration parameters on PVD-Titanium Nitride (TiN) coated Ti-13Zr-13Nb biomedical alloy was studied. Disk type samples were prepared and coated with TiN at various conditions: bias voltage (-125V), substrate temperature (100 to 300°C) and nitrogen gas flow rate (100 to 300 seem).
