This research was done to determine students? level of metacognitive in answering quadratic equation word problems. Survey and one-group pretest-posttest experiment designs were used in this research, two phases were involved. The first phase was done to determine which group of students used metacognitive strategies frequently when answering word problems and to determine the level of metacognitive activities among the groups by using time line graphs. While the second phase was done to determine the effect of metacognitive training to the group of achievers who less frequently used metacognitive strategies and group of achievers who portrayed low level of metacognitive activities when answering quadratic equation word problems. This study is carried out to develop a computerized ultrasonic-based measurement system for mechanical properties and acoustical characterization of non-porous solids materials. The system employed the pulse-echo method using both longitudinal and shears waves. This system consists of a pulser/receiver generator, transducers, picoscope and personal computer. The developed system offers user-friendly procedure, yet producing accurate and reliable measurement results. The software for the system is developed using Microsoft Visual Basic Version 6.0. Kajian yang dijalankan ini bertujuan untuk mereka bentuk sebuah sukatan pelajaran Gamelan Melayu berdasarkan kerangka sistem peperiksaan muzik bergred antarabangsa. Pendekatan kualitatif telah digunakan untuk melaksanakan kajian ini. Secara umumnya proses kajian dijalankan dalam enam peringkat iaitu (i) pengumpulan maklumat daripada data sekunder, (ii) pengumpulan data melalui informan, (iii) menganalisis data, (iv) membentuk sebuah sukatan pelajaran Gamelan Melayu bergred, (v) penilaian pakar terhadap sukatan pelajaran yang dibangunkan dan (vi) memurnikan sukatan pelajaran yang dibangunkan. This research aimed to assess the properties of biochar fuel produced using microwave-assisted carbonisation of oil palm trunk core (OPTC) biomass. Microwave-assisted carbonisation of OPTC was investigated under several sizes, temperatures and microwave power variables. The fuel properties of raw OPTC and biochar products were characterised by physical and chemical analyses. An open-ended coaxial probe method was used to measure the effect of frequency, moisture content and structural direction towards dielectric properties of OPTC. The result showed that raw OPTC contained high moisture content (~64.3%), low fixed carbon (~6.4%) and low calorific value (0.0046 GJkg-1). Dielectric constant of OPTC was found to decrease with the increasing of microwave frequency. Regardless of OPTC structural directions, an increasing pattern of dielectric constant and dielectric loss was detected with the increasing moisture content in biomass. Kajian ini mengenengahkan isu-isu sosial yang menjadi penghalang kepada pembangunan masyarakat serta cabaran yang dilalui ketika itu dalam mendepani arus perdana pembangunan negara. Kaedah kualitatif, iaitu kajian kepustakaan dan analisis teks serta teori sosiologi sastera. The objective of this study is to investigate the English as Second Language teachers’ knowledge and ability in implementing School-Based Assessment (SBA). It is also to identify the challenges and their recommendations to improve its implementation. A qualitative research design was chosen to answer three research questions. Three sets of instruments were utilized to measure teachers’ knowledge and ability. Seven ESL teachers were selected as purposive sampling in the study from two secondary schools which were selected from one of the districts in Selangor. This case study participants were employed to be in the interview to gain a better insightful explanation on the challenges and suggestions of the implementation of SBA. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations and document analyses. Kajian ini dijalankan untuk mengkaji penerapan Pendidikan Matematik Realistik Indonesia (PMRI) dalam pengajaran matematik di sekolah rendah di Indonesia. Kajian ini meliputi perancangan, pelaksanaan dan mengenal pasti masalah yang dihadapi guru. Reka bentuk kajian adalah kajian kualitatif kaedah dengan kajian kes. Pemilihan peserta kajian dijalankan secara persampelan bertujuan iaitu melibatkan tiga orang guru matematik sekolah rendah di daerah Banjarmasin, Indonesia. Pengumpulan data didapati melalui pemerhatian pengajaran kelas, temu bual pra dan pasca pengajaran dan analisis dokumen. Proses pemerhatian kepada setiap peserta dilaksanakan sebanyak tiga kali proses pengajaran kelas. Sesi temu bual dijalankan sebelum dan selepas sesi pemerhatian pengajaran kelas. The main aim of this research is to propose an alternative method for estimating relative risk of mosquito-borne infectious disease mapping in Malaysia. This estimation method is based on stochastic SIR-SI model (susceptible-infectiverecovered for human populations; susceptible-infective for mosquito populations). Based on previous research, relative risk estimation used total number of new infective cases at the denominator of the relative risk equation. In this research, relative risk estimation with the used of total posterior mean number of new infective cases at the denominator of the relative risk equation is introduced. This model is then been applied using data of mosquito-borne infectious disease from Malaysia. Data used in this research is provided by the Ministry of Health Malaysia which include 43339 dengue cases, 7 chikungunya cases and 3850 malaria cases for 16 states in Malaysia during year 2013. This study investigates the effectiveness of durian tree sawdust (DTS), coconut coir (CC) and oil palm empty fruit bunch (EFB) as amendment agents for the remediation of metal contaminated soil. Three main aspects namely characterisation, adsorption and pot experiment were studied. The characterisation study was carried out using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) Spectrometer and Fourier Transformed Infrared (FTIR) Spectrometer. The influence of two experimental parameters, namely solution pH and initial metal concentration on adsorption process was assessed in batch experiment. The adsorption behaviour of Cu(II), Pb(II) and Zn(II) onto DTS, CC and EFB was evaluated using the Langmuir and Freundlich equilibrium isotherm models. Two sets of pot experiment were carried out for 8 weeks at three rates of application, namely 0, 1 and 3% (w/w) to evaluate the ability of amendment agents to immobilise metals in contaminated soil. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Kaizen Event (KE), and Innovation Performance (IP). This quantitative study developed a model for the Malaysian automotive industry which incorporates the three element. Survey questionnaires were used to investigate the relationship between the implementation of TPM, KE, and IP in 161 automotive supplier companies. Structural equation model technique was used to test the statistical analysis of the data required in the study. In order to test the reliability and validity of the instrument, reliability analysis, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were conducted. Findings reveal that KE does not affect the relationship between TPM and IP. However, the study suggests that KE assists in improving IP when coupled with TPM.
