English prepositions have always been a perceived problem for Chinese ESL learners. However, scant studies have been conducted with a specific focus on the use of prepositions of time, place and direction among Chinese ESL learners. This study examined the extent of errors and the error tendencies of these students in their written assignments with regard to these prepositions. This study also attempted to explain the causes of errors made. A total of 38 students in a Chinese national-type secondary school were involved in translating Chinese texts laced with prepositions of time, place and direction into English. Subjects made most errors in using the preposition of time (39.5%) compared to preposition of direction (34.6%) and preposition of place (25.9%). Among the three error tendencies, wrong selection of prepositions was the most prominent (64.7%). This study was done to look into the effectiveness of Microcomputer-based Laboratory (MBL) in an active physics teaching and learning environment for topic of Force and Motion in Fundamental Physics I course for Bachelor of Science Education at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). Comparison was made between two groups of students taking Bachelor of Science Education at UPSI during second semester of the 2001/2002 session. Group A was made up of semester II students while group B comprised of semester VI students. A multiple choice Malay-translated version of the Force and Motion Conceptual Evaluation (FMCE) was used as research instrument. Kajian ini bertujuan membangun dan menilai model pengajaran dan pembelajaran matematik berasaskan pendekatan kooperatif menggunakan strategi penyelesaian masalah (PMKSPM). Kaedah pembangunan model PMKSPM yang digunakan dalam kajian ini meliputi dua peringkat, iaitu peringkat pembangunan dan penilaian model. Peringkat pembangunan model PMKSPM terdiri daripada empat tahap iaitu kajian awal, perancangan model, realisasi model, dan kajian rintis. Peringkat penilaian model PMKSPM pula melibatkan kaedah eksperimen kuasi. A collection of Halim Teh's comics are studied from the 1950?s to the 1980?s. Halim Teh was chosen because he had been constantly producing comics for thirty years. The researcher thinks the comics that were produced were a valuable art assets worth a study. In his research, the researcher segmented Halim Teh's comics into 4 eras ; the 50?s, the 60?s, the 70?s and the 80?s. The reason for this segmentation is so that we can see how themes, forms and styles were Halim Teh?s preference in prolonging his comics. In this way, it is hoped that we can trace and see the era differences with the chosen theme, forms and styles. Nevertheless, with the chosen theme, there might be a similarity with other comic artists that were active during his time. This is a qualitative research. It is a research related to the mistakes done by Form Four students in simplifying algebraic expressions with one and two unknowns. The operations involved in this simplifying skill are only addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Six students were chosen based on the mistakes that they have done when answering the questions in part A. The researcher has analyzed the data based on the interviewed transcripts. The analysis of the interviews suggests that among the common mistakes done by students are they do not understand the concept, they stick to the same rules in answering all the questions regardless to the operations and they create their own rules.
