The effect of precursor concentration on the particle size, crystal size, and optical energy gap of cexsn1-xo2 nanofabrication
Al-Hada, Naif Mohammed
In the present work, a thermal treatment technique is applied for the synthesis of CexSn1?xO2 nanoparticles. Using this method has developed understanding of how lower and higher precursor values affect the morphology, structure, and optical properties of CexSn1?xO2 nanoparticles. CexSn1?xO2 nanoparticle synthesis involves a reaction between cerium and tin sources, namely, cerium nitrate hexahydrate and tin (II) chloride dihydrate, respectively, and the capping agent, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). The findings indicate that lower x values yield smaller particle size with a higher energy band gap, while higher x values yield a larger particle size with a smaller energy band gap. Thus, products with lower x values may be suitable for antibacterial activity applications as smaller particles can diffuse through the cell wall faster, while products with higher x values may be suitable for solar cell energy applications as more electrons can be generated at larger particle sizes. The synthesiz.....

The effect of aggregating bootstrap on the accuracy of neural network system for Islamic investment prediction
Nurul Hila Zainuddin
Accurate prediction of the stock price is necessary for efficient financial decision making and reconstruction planning, especially during the COVID-19 crisis. Meanwhile, the ARIMA model with neural network approach is a hybrid statistical model that has been used widely in finance and statistics. It could solve the non-linearity problem in ARIMA. However, based on the unreliable sampling variation, the unbalance between the linearity and nonlinearity parts in the hybrid model could lead to inaccurate prediction. This matter motivates the purpose of this study, where the authors aim to balance the linearity and nonlinearity of the hybrid model towards predicting the Islamic investment during the Malaysia Movement Control Order (MCO). In this study, Islamic investment is analyzed using statistical based model of ARIMA. In order to balance linearity and nonlinearity parts of ARIMA which is outperforming the unreliable sampling variation, the aggregating bootstrap approach is used on ARIM.....

The development of STEM-discovery learning module in differential equations: a need analysis
Mazlini Adnan
The Differential Equations (DE) is an important subject for solving the problems in various fields. However, the teaching and learning of DE in Indonesia are still textbooks-oriented, focusing on delivery knowledge and not considering learning psychology principles. The module is one of the teaching materials that can be used to promote students' activities. Hence, this study aimed to analysis the students' responses to the need for a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)-Discovery Learning Module in teaching and learning of DE. The respondents were 124 students, 96 females and 28 males in mathematics and mathematics education in fifteen public and private universities in Indonesia. The data were collected by questionnaires and analyzed descriptively. The results revealed that about 60% of respondents stated that the teaching and learning of DE are teacher-centered and without the module. Almost 7% of respondents confirmed the use of the STEM approach in learning, an.....

The determinants of carbon dioxide emissions in Malaysia and Singapore
Norimah Rambeli @ Ramli
The focal aim of this paper is to examine the relationship between total energy consumption, Gross Domestic Product, urbanization, trade openness and financial development on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The study focuses on two selected ASEAN countries namely, Malaysia and Singapore, due to their major contribution in CO2 emissions among other ASEAN countries, after Brunei. This study adopts the quarterly time series data from Q1:2010 to Q1:2020. By utilizing the linear ARDL method, the presence of a positive and long-term relationship was confirmed between the variables for both countries. The findings also validate the Environment Kuznets hypothesis namely, that CO2 emissions will continue to rise until the national income reaches optimum point and beyond this environment quality will begin to improve. The results established that financial development helps to reduce CO2 emissions in both the short- and long-run. Further, trade openness tends to reduce CO2 in Malaysia. For Singa.....

The concept of zakat of mustaghallat and its application to long term investment sukuk
Noor Azman Muhammad
The topic of financial markets and the Zakat rulings related to its products is among the topics that reoccur from time to time with the changes in product versions and features as there are new developments related to long term investment products ranging from the shares in the stock market to the various forms of sukuk. Is it therefore conceivable to develop a fiqh ruling for those who own such long term instruments for investment and are awaiting the returns ? similar to Zakat on ?mustaghallat? (rental and lease income generating assets), where the zakat is only paid on the rental income? This is in fact the opinion of some of the Zakat bodies and institutions in Malaysia, specifically for Zakat on long-term investment products such as shares and Sukuk, where zakat is due on the dividends only after the passing of a full year, which is in line with the tax system. The question that this research presents is: Can zakat on long-term investment sukuk be considered equal to zakat on mus.....

The causal effects of leading macroeconomic indicators on stock return: evidence from 13 selected Asia Pacific countries
Gan, Pei-Tha
The motivation for this study stems from the fact that the leading macroeconomic indicators, namely output, inflation, interest rate and exchange rate can cause a change in the stock return. This study aims to examine the causal relationship between stock return and the leading macroeconomic indicators. This study uses the idea of market informational inefficiency via the context of semi-strong form of the efficient market hypothesis based on 13 selected Asia Pacific countries. To avoid spurious regressions, this study employs the augmented Dickey-Fuller and the Phillips-Perron unit root tests to determine the stationarity of the variables and the random walk effect. By using the Toda-Yamamoto Granger causality test, the finding suggests that the causal effect of the leading macroeconomic indicators on the stock return may shed light on decisive decision-making about risk minimisation and returns maximisation of fund managers, investors, and investment agencies.
