The main purpose of this study is to develop an empirically substantiated Teacher Leadership Competency Model (TLCM). The study also aspired to identify the relationship between Teachers’ Leadership Competencies (TLC) and Principals’ Developmental Leadership Behavior (PDLB), PDLB and Teachers’ Commitment to Change (TCC). Further, the study also intended to ascertain the relationships among TLC, PDLB and TCC. Structural Equation Modeling was applied to test the model. A total of 928 teachers from 58 High Performing Secondary Schools in Malaysia completed the survey. The analysis yielded a four-factor TLC Model, namely Fostering a Collaborative Culture; Facilitating Improvement and Establishing Standards for Student Behavior, Modelling Leadership Attributes and Skills; and Performing as Referral Leader. Teaching of thinking skills has increasingly gained attention from educators in general in the last few decades. It is now seen as a vital component which needs to be incorporated into the teaching of school subjects with the aim of producing citizens who are able to conduct complex thinking process on their own to solve problems and make good decisions. This attempt to teach thinking skills at the school level obviously brings implications on educational planning and implementation at all level to accommodate this change. This experimental research was carried out in an attempt to identify any possible positive effects of two Reading Aloud methods namely ‘Shared Reading’ (Holdaway, 1979) and ‘Preview-Review’ (Ulanoff dan Pucci, 1994) on form six students’ speaking proficiency in English. The selected students were from a rural secondary school in Perlis. At the beginning, students’ levels of speaking proficiency were determined based on their SPM results. The purpose of combining the methods was to scaffold students towards understanding the content and vocabulary in the selected reading texts so that they can be applied in the speaking session during the lesson. This thesis aims to study adjectives in the Malay language with particular focus on adjectives related to senses. 38 adjectives have been chosen as sample for this study. Component meaning analysis is used to analysis the adjectives related to senses. This component meaning analaysis aims to analayse and interpret the meaning of every word based on the similarity of the features which is shared by these words. Words with high levels of synonymity leads to share a number of fetures compared to a low level of synonymity. The synonymity of words can be seen clearly based on the similarity of features with is symbolised as [ + ].
