Stress detection and mitigation through discovery of optimal lecture delivery method for STEM-enrolled university students
Okta Nurika
The high availability of technology-related jobs is currently not fulfilled by enough supply of technology graduates, specifically the ones coming from science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) courses. This is related to the low enrolment rate of STEM-based courses at Universities. The notion that STEM subjects are intense and difficult to pass could be the reason of such phenomena. This research experimented different lecture delivery methods comprising of different seating arrangements, inclusion or exclusion of break, group size, and room size to investigate the generated levels of stress among STEM students, so that the method that would induce minimum stress could be discovered. The analysis of the generated heart rates as stress indication concludes that the level of difficulty of STEM subject’s topic is the one that most affected students’ level of stress, while inclusion of break during class is imperious to destress students. Class arrangement with far seat.....

Assessing Malaysia’s internet of things (IoT) readiness based on CREATE-IoT key performance indicators
Okta Nurika
The current nationwide deployment of Internet of Things (IoT) in Malaysia has never been assessed nor benchmarked against any Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). A proven IoT assessment standard called CREATE-IoT has successfully driven IoT projects in European countries, and it is hence used as a benchmarking tool in this research. The assessment that includes both technical and business perspectives concludes that 42 out of 50 KPIs (84%) in Malaysia are in the advanced state. Malaysia is thus rated as an IoT-ready country. However, rooms for improvement exist in the scopes of providing expected duration for completing an IoT service transaction to predict the level of customer satisfaction when using the service – and the ability to produce IoT sensors and devices locally to have sustainable, scalable, and economical continuous IoT deployments. © 2024, Semarak Ilmu Publishing. A facile surfactant-assisted synthesis of graphene oxide/zinc oxide catalyst for the degradation of methylene blue dye
Azmi Mohamed
In this work, electrochemically exfoliated graphene oxide-based photocatalyst was synthesised with the help of single- (sodium dodecyl sulphate; SDS) and triple-chain (sodium 1,4-bis(neopentyloxy)-3-(neopentylcarbonyl)-1,4-dioxobutane-2-sulfonate; TC14) anionic surfactants. The hybrid photocatalyst is a system consisting of surfactant-assisted electrochemically exfoliated graphene oxide (sEGO) and zinc oxide (ZnO). The system was prepared by exfoliating graphite in the presence of surfactant and ZnO, and it was used for the removal of methylene blue (MB) dye. Of these different surfactants, the triple-chain TC14 exhibited 98.53% MB removal, which was significantly higher than the system with SDS surfactant (50.94%) or ZnO alone (42.33%). Observations through field-emission scanning electron microscopy suggested an enhanced exfoliation degree upon increasing the number of surfactant chains. Results from zeta potential measurement also revealed increased system stability along with a hig.....
