Developing a risk assessment matrix towards better childcare services in Selangor

The growth of women’s participation in the labour force raises the number of childcare centres that compete relentlessly. To remain competitive, childcare centres need to systematically assess childcare risks because a safe and healthy environment is vital in parents’ childcare choices. Therefore, this study attempts to develop a risk assessment matrix for childcare services through a modified Delphi technique that combines two Delphi rounds with a focus group discussion. Twenty experts participated in the first round of Delphi and eighteen continued to answers the second round of Delphi. Focus group were held with six experts as a replacement of third round of Delphi. Twentytwo childcare risks were assessed, and experts agreed that choking and drowning were the most critical risks in terms of risk severity. Tahap penggunaan BBM berasaskan teknologi dalam PdP bagi Guru Pendidikan Islam (GPI) masih pada tahap yang sederhana. Kajian ini bertujuan mengenal pasti amalan penggunaan BBM berasaskan teknologi dalam pengajaran GPI, BBM teknologi yang kerap digunakan oleh GPI serta kesediaan GPI terhadap penggunaan BBM teknologi dalam pengajaran. Kajian ini juga melihat perbezaan amalan penggunaan BBM teknologi dalam kalangan GPI berdasarkan jantina serta perbezaan BBM teknologi yang kerap digunakan oleh GPI berdasarkan lokasi sekolah. Seterusnya, kajian ini melihat hubungan antara amalan penggunaan dan kesediaan GPI terhadap BBM berasaskan teknologi dalam pengajaran. Pendekatan kuantitatif dengan kaedah tinjauan telah dipilih dalam kajian ini serta dianalisis menggunakan perisian Statistical Packages for Science Social (SPSS) Version 27.0. This study determines the effectiveness of digital learning materials on students’ academic achievement and motivation in the topic Geometry. The research design is quasi-experimental. A sample of 60 participants out of 200 target populations were carefully chosen using cluster probability sampling. A threeweek intervention was carried out. The instruments used are a set of pre-test and post-test on the topic Geometry. The motivation survey that was given to the treatment group only. A descriptive analysis was used to describe students’ achievement on the geometry topic, while an independent t-test was used to determine the differences between the two teaching strategies the digital learning and the conventional learning. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk membina, menguji kesahan, kebolehpercayaan dan kebolehgunaan Modul Latihan STEM berintegrasikan GeoGebra dan GeoGebra AR. Modul Latihan STEM melibatkan topik Fungsi dan Fungsi Kuadratik bagi pelajar Tingkatan Empat. Proses pembinaan modul adalah berdasarkan Model Pembinaan Modul Sidek (2005), Kerangka kualiti pendidikan STEM (2011), Model Penyelesaian Polya (1945) dan pengunaan perisian GeoGebra dan GeoGebra AR. Proses pembinaan modul menggunakan Model Pembinaan Modul Sidek terbahagi kepada dua peringkat iaitu peringkat membina draf dan peringkat pengujian modul. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti strategi dan proses pelaksanaan strategi kemahiran bertutur pengajaran bahasa Melayu secara bersemuka dan dalam talian yang digunakan oleh guru sekolah menengah kebangsaan di negeri Sembilan dan Perlis. Tiga orang guru Bahasa Melayu dipilih sebagai peserta kajian berdasarkan usia dan pengalaman yang berbeza. Kajian kualitatif dengan reka bentuk kajian kes digunakan sebagai metadologi kajian. Data kajian dikumpul menggunakan kaedah pemerhatian melalui rakaman audio PdPc dan PdPr, temu bual serta analisis kandungan. Data ditranskrip, dikenal pasti, dijelaskan, dan dianalisis dengan menggunakan Nvivo10 dan dapatan kajian dilaporkan dalam dua bahagian iaitu pengajaran bersemuka dan dalam talian berdasarkan soalan kajian. Development of Self Directed Problem Based Learning (PBL) module for high school Biology

This research aims to develop a valid and reliable Self-Directed PBL module using the adapted recommendations found in the models provided by Problem-Based Learning Network (PBLN) at Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA) and the instructional design model for ill-structured problem-solving by D. H. Jonassen. These design concepts were combined to meet the module development model proposed by Sidek’s Model. Biology educator’s perception towards the Self- Directed PBL module’s learning guide, facilitator guide, problem scenario assessment, self-directed learning planning assessment and learning activity were investigated using quantitative approaches. A total of 44 educators were selected using random sampling from a population of 50 in one of the Perak districts. The validity and reliability of the module were measured using percentage of expert agreement and Cronbach’s Alpha respectively. Formulation of antimicrobial cream extracted from Chromolaena odorata (Pokok Kapal Terbang) for wound healing

Chromolaena odorata has reported to have medicinal value due to the presence of active compounds which have antimicrobial and wound healing properties. Therefore, this study was carried out to formulate the antimicrobial cream from C. odorata extract used for wound healing treatment. The study aims to screen the secondary metabolites and determine C. odorata extract concentration for antimicrobial activity to be used in cream formulation. The leaves were extracted in 95% methanol and 95% ethanol for secondary metabolite screening and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry. Chromolaena odorata extract with a concentration of 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% was performed for antimicrobial activity tested on Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans. Kesediaan guru dalam melaksanakan pendidikan abad ke 21 di sekolah daerah Barat Daya Pulau Pinang

Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti tahap persepsi guru dalam kesediaan guru untuk melaksanakan pendidikan abad ke-21 (PAK21). Tahap kesediaan guru melaksanakan pendidikan abad ke-21 dilihat berdasarkan aspek pengetahuan guru tentang pembelajaran pendidikan abad ke-21, kemahiran menggunakan sistem pengurusan pembelajaran Google Classroom dan sokongan pentadbir. Instrumen soal selidik dipilih sebagai medium untuk menjalankan kajian kuantitatif ini. Dalam kajian ini seramai 330 orang guru sekolah rendah dari daerah Barat Daya, Pulau Pinang telah dipilih secara rawak sebagai sampel kajian ini. Berdasarkan keputusan kajian, didapati bahawa majoriti guru berpendapat bahawa mereka mempunyai pengetahuan yang tinggi tentang PAK21(M=3.71, sp=0.464), kemahiran guru menggunakan sistem pengurusan pembelajaran Google Classroom adalah tahap sederhana (M=2.88, sp=0.704). Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti pengetahuan dan kesediaan guru terhadap Kemahiran Berfikir Aras Tinggi (KBAT) bagi mata pelajaran Matematik. Reka bentuk tinjauan telah digunakan dalam kajian ini. Pemilihan sampel kajian pula dijalankan secara rawak melibatkan guru mata pelajaran Matematik dari 12 buah sekolah di daerah Pasir Gudang. Dalam kajian ini, soal selidik mengandungi 3 bahagian, iaitu profil demografi responden, pengetahuan dan kesediaan responden tentang KBAT. Data telah dianalisis secara deskriptif menggunakan kekerapan, min, peratusan dan sisihan piawai bagi menjelaskan ketiga- tiga bahagian dalam soal selidik.
