| 8472 | 2019 Article | Teacher practices in the acquisition of english among asian immigrant english language learners Mazlina Che Mustafa Purpose – The increase in the enrolments of immigrant children in New Zealand seems to have posed great challenges to early childhood education services when it comes to developing the children’s English language acquisition. This qualitative case study explored how New Zealand early childhood teachers develop the English language acquisition of Asian immigrant English language learners (ELLs). The theoretical framework of this research drew on a range of sociocultural perspectives, including sociocultural adaptation and acculturation strategies.
Methodology – The main participants of this study were seven early childhood teachers and six Asian immigrant ELLs from two early childhood centres. Data on the teachers were collected through observations and semi-structured interviews. For each centre, observations were carried out over a six week period which enabled a series of snapshots of how the teachers developed the English language acquisition of the ELLs.
Findings – Making..... 1342 hits |
| 8473 | 2019 Article | Sociocultural adaptation for Asian immigrant english language learners Mazlina Che Mustafa This phenomenological study discusses sociocultural adaptation, as one of the findings emerged from the study, among Asian immigrant English language learners (ELLs) and their parents, as well as New Zealand early childhood teachers. The focus of the study is on the analysis of early childhood teachers? beliefs about how they can support English acquisition among Asian immigrant ELLs and how these beliefs influence the teachers? practices in early childhood education (ECE) settings as they adapt themselves. The theoretical framework of this research draws on a range of sociocultural perspectives, including (i) the sociocultural positions initially defined by Lev (1978); (ii) the notion of guided participation articulated by Barbara (2003) (iii) theories of second language acquisition discussed by Lantolf and Thorne (2000); and by Krashen (1982); Krashen (1985) and (iv) acculturation as addressed by Berry (2001). The main participants of this study were seven early childhood teachers and..... 1262 hits |

A total of 473 respondents completed the survey with useful data. The findings revealed that a) teachers in NCPSs achieved the level of Quite Good in TATC and in its three domains i.e. Cognitive, Behavioral and Affective; b) teachers in NCPSs possess cognitively based attitudes;c) in terms of quadrants, teachers in NCPSs were located in the quadrant of Acceptance of TATC; and d) there were 70.82%, 21.36%, 6.34%) and 1.48% of the teachers in NCPSs located in the quadrants of Acceptance, Embracing, Indifference and Resistance of TATC, respectively. These implied that there is a dire need for improvement of TATC in NCPSs in Perak. The study provides a preliminary insight into the emergence of patterns and typology of TATC in NCPSs, offering local practitioners and relevant parties another dimension of understanding, enhanci..... 1040 hits |
| 8475 | 2019 Article | Pattern recognition on anthropocentric and fitness components relative birth-month quartiles among Malaysian boys and girls Siti Musliha Mat Rasid Biasness selection during talent identification program in sports may occurred due to the chronological age system applied nowadays. The aim of this study is to recognize pattern on anthropometric and fitness components relative birth-month quartiles among studied population. A total of 39372 boys (aged 7.36 ± 0.29 year) and 33723 girls aged (7.34 ± 0.29 year) were classified into four chronological birth-month groups which is first quartile (Q1 - Jan to March), second quartile (Q2-Apr to June), third quartile (Q3 - July to Sept) and fourth quartile (Q4 - Oct to Dec) involved in this study. Multiple analysis of variance (MANOVA) revealed significant difference of F(18,111336), p < 0.0001, p < 0.05 and F (18, 95358), p-value < 0.0001, alpha=0.05 between four birth-month quartiles for boy and girl participants, respectively. Tukey (HSD) follow up test of analysis of variance revealed that studied population are significantly difference in body weight, standing height, explosive leg pow..... 1178 hits |
| 8476 | 2019 Article | The effect of residence area on motor skill development among children Lee, Jeffrey Low Fook Environmental influences such as residence effect on athletic talent identification and development have become an interest topic for sport scientists. Residence effects occur when being live in a certain city size leads to participation or performance advantages, typically for those live in smaller or mid-sized cities. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the child’s residence area on child’s motor development. A total 928 boys (aged 7.36 ± 0.29 year) and 1093 girls (aged 7.37 ± 0.29 year) was randomly selected from 215 primary schools in Selangor, Malaysia. With respect to their type of residence area, 110 schools located in urban area and 115 schoolslocated in rural area. They were tested on the two anthropometric measurement (weight and height) and four motor subscales (power, flexibility, speed and coordination). Result showed that children from urban area tends to have higher anthropometrics and better motor skill development. It also suggested that childâ..... 1589 hits |

Data kawasan
banjir diperolehi secara sekunder dan didigit..... 1100 hits |
| 8480 | 2019 Article | Effects of tributyl citrate plasticizer on thermomechanical attributes of poly lactic acid Izan Roshawaty Mustapa Unique physicochemical and barrier attributes of a biodegradable and sustainable polymer called poly (lactic acid) (PLA) is promising for various applications. Conversely, the issues related to the rigidity and fragility of this polymer that limits its wide usage needs to be inhibited. To surmount these shortcomings, various plasticizers have been incorporated into PLA to soften and make it useful for food packaging. In this research, tributyl citrate (TBC) was inserted as plasticizer into PLA matrix to modify its properties. The impact of varying TBC contents on the morphology, thermal and dynamic mechanical behaviour of PLA/TBC composites were evaluated. FESEM images of PLA composites revealed homogeneous fractured surfaces. The crystallinity of PLA/TBC composites was increased with the addition of plasticizer without altering its transparency. The values of the storage modulus and glass transition temperatures, the cold crystallization temperatures as well as the melting temperature..... 1662 hits |
