The research covered the element of conjunction such as type, wrongly used conjunction and also suggestion on how to teach the conjunction correctly. The research is done by comparing the used of conjunction taken from two favorite which are Majalah Dewan Bahasa February 2006 edition and Majalah Dewan Sastera February 2006 edition. Both magazines are hot in the market and important reference to students and teachers as a main source of information regarding conjunction. This thesis aims to study adjectives in the Malay language with particular focus on adjectives related to senses. 38 adjectives have been chosen as sample for this study. Component meaning analysis is used to analysis the adjectives related to senses. This component meaning analaysis aims to analayse and interpret the meaning of every word based on the similarity of the features which is shared by these words. Words with high levels of synonymity leads to share a number of fetures compared to a low level of synonymity. The synonymity of words can be seen clearly based on the similarity of features with is symbolised as [ + ]. This study also reveals that there are words that neither share any general meaning features nor diagnostic features. Every adjective is interpreted using collocation methodology. Many language teachers do not realise the immense benefit of using literature particularly short stories as means to teach vocabulary and writing. Since the introduction of literature component for all secondary schools in the year 2000, the usage of these literary texts is focused mainly as a component for examination purposes. The study examined the effects of using critical reading strategy as a technique to read literary texts not only for text comprehension but function as a basis to foster vocabulary acquisition which in turn help students in their writing. This research intends to find out the factor that factor that cause student from Southern Thailand to choose the Malay Language Program as their study in the university. The researches uses in survey method and employs the survey and interview as instruments to obtain data. The research samples are 99 students from Southern Thailand who are taking the Malay Language Program at the Faculty of Language, prince of Songkhla University in Southern Thailand and at the faculty of Language University Sultan Idris, Tanjong Malim, Malaysia. This study aims to model the shape of a normal red blood cell (RBC) and two shapes of sickle cells using the partial differential equation (PDE). The development of this technique was based on the use of an elliptic PDE and a set of four periodic boundary conditions. The PDE method can generate surfaces of geometries from a small number of parameters. Furthermore, the shape of the surfaces generated by the PDE method is based on a boundary representation and can easily be modified since it is characterized by data distributed around the boundaries. In this study, the shapes of the generated PDE-based representation of a normal RBC and sickle cell has been sketched by using MATLAB program. The fmdings showed that the PDE method is suitable for representing the shape of a normal RBC and sickle cells. This phenomenological study explores the beliefs and practices of New Zealand early childhood teachers in supporting English acquisition for Asian immigrant English language learners (ELLs). The focus of the study is on the analysis of early childhood teachers' beliefs about how they can support English acquisition among Asian immigrant ELLs and how these beliefs influence the teachers' practices in early childhood education (EeE) settings. The theoretical framework of this research draws on a range of sociocultural perspectives, including (i) the sociocultural positions initially defined by Lev Vygostky (1978), (ii) the notion of guided participation articulated by Barbara Rogoff (2003), (iii) theories of second language acquisition discussed by Lantolf and Thorne (2000), and by Krashen (1982, 1985), and (iv) acculturation as addressed by Berry (2001). This thesis furnishes a clear idea on the current scenario of word-formation in Tamil, particularly in the Malaysian context. A total of 496 words have been collected as data for this study from the nationwide published Malaysian Tamil newspaper; 'Malaysia Nanban'. This study by and large answered technical questions: word-formation processes, genres and classes of words and identifying linguistic and grammatical weakness and conflicts. Field study has been conducted to answer social questions such as: attitudes of language users, their expectation and suggestions for better word-formation in Tamil. It was found that the language users were not very satisfied with the current progress of word-formation in Tamil. The result obtained from the questionnaire demonstrates that the language users are supportive of language development, particularly in word-formation.
