Based on the responses from the respondents, the majority of the respondents demonstrated positive attitudes and behaviour intention, as well as agreed that the SESTEM module was useful as a teaching to..... 466 hits |
2023 Article | Synthesis of new azo dyes of uracil via ecofriendly method and evaluation for the breast, liver and lung cancer cells in vitro Saripah Salbiah Syed Abdul Azziz Uracil derivatives have been the focus of many researchers examining their potential as a cancer-fighting agent. Human breast, liver, and lung cancer cells were used to test the target compounds and compared to cisplatin. There was a wide range of activity in the newly synthesized compounds against breast and lung cancer, but none were effective against liver cancer. Nevertheless, the most effective substances were 4d and 4j, which were quite effective against both kinds of cell lines. It was shown that the 4d compound is more effective against breast cancer than 4a, 4b, and 4c compounds, and 4j showed higher cytotoxic activity than 4e, 4f, and g compounds. We have been told that further research into the toxicity of these potent substances, as well as in-vivo testing, are necessary. 2023, Iranian Chemical Science and Technologies Association. | 3046 | 2023 Article | CO2 methanation on Y-Al2O3 nanoparticles from waste aluminium: Effect of Ba promoter on sulfur impurities Rozita binti Yahaya The inferior activity of ?-Al2O3 (GAL1) from the waste aluminium for CO2 methanation was improved using Ba promoter. Ba promoted CO2 conversion to ?82% with 100% methane selectivity at 400 C (Ni-Ba/GAL1), compared to ?10% conversion without Ba (Ni/GAL1). Acid digestion of waste aluminium formed residual Al2(SO4)3 at ?0.5% atomic weight, forming the detrimental NiAl2O4 under reaction conditions. Ba inhibited NiAl2O4 formation by producing BaAl2O4, increasing Ni-Ba/?-Al2O3 stability for 50 h at 400 C. In-situ DRIFTS analysis revealed that NiAl2O4 caused CO2 methanation via CO2 dissociation into CO, followed by high temperature hydrogenation to CH4. Ba promotes catalytic activity and stability of alumina with sulfur impurities by maintaining Nio oxidation states to catalyze CO2 hydrogenation to formate at low temperatures, producing a high methane yield. In addition to transforming waste aluminium into a valuable material, investigation on ?-Al2O3 catalytic activity expands its potential ..... 288 hits
2023 Article | The effects of thinking styles and inventive problem-solving on the problem-solving skills for design and technology students Charanjit Kaur Swaran Singh The creative critical thinking skills model aims to apply a critical and creative thinking style to students so that they can solve inventive problems well. However, teachers overlook the importance of this thinking style because they focus on inventive problem solving. Thus, a teaching module based on the Meyer Model has been developed to help teachers teach inventive problem-solving skills. This module has been developed by combining critical and creative thinking styles and the Theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ) which is a theory that uses structured and systematic methods to solve inventive problems. This study aims to evaluate the effect of module implementation on the achievement of inventive problem-solving skills of standard four design and technology students in five aspects (i) problem situation (ii) problem cause (iii) strategy and approach (iv) solvability (v) innovation. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. A total of 106 studen..... 362 hits

2023 Article | Cooperative Source Detection Using An Optimized Distributed Levy Flight Algorithm Mad Helmi Ab. Majid Source signal detection plays important roles in many real-world target searching problems. Source detection is necessary before a full search process utilizing the detected signal can be performed where minimizing the detection time and maximizing the search space exploration or coverage are the main problems. In this paper, an optimized Levy Flight algorithm known as a Distributed Levy Flight (DLF) for swarm agents is proposed. The DLF algorithm is optimized by means of repulsive artificial potential force to disperse the agents in order to optimize the search space coverage and detection time. Additionally, to integrate cooperative behavior, an artificial attractive force is used to maintain communication among the agents. The results showed that the proposed DLF algorithm successfully improve detection time (113.1s) and area coverage (78.3%) compared to the existing algorithms: Brownian Walk (325.5s, 31.7%), Correlated Random Walk (356.2s, 35.1%), Levy Flight (201.3s, 56.6%), Levy ..... 320 hits
2024 Article | Leptospirosis relative risk estimates based on continuous-time, discrete-space stochastic sir-l-si transmission model Sufi Hafawati Ideris Leptospirosis is a re-emerging global disease that has become endemic in Malaysia. The transmissions usually occur between animals especially rats to rats and rats to humans. Since, it is an easily contractable disease that can be transmitted directly through contact with infected rats urine or indirectly from the environment such as via water and soil, it is very challenging to curb this disease from infecting humans. Poor understanding of the disease and lack of epidemiological data also made leptospirosis is difficult to control. To cope with this problem, a leptospirosis disease transmission model is developed to study the mechanism of leptospirosis disease spread over continuous-time that may help to predict future caused of an outbreak. This study aims to construct a continuous-time and discrete-space stochastic SIR-L-SI (Susceptible, Infected, Recovered Humans-Leptospires in the Environment-Susceptible, Infectious Rats) of leptospirosis disease transmission to estimate the risk ..... 396 hits
