A time truncated new group chain sampling plan based on log-logistic distribution
Shazlyn Milleana Shaharudin
The acceptance sampling is a technique for ensuring that both producers and consumers are satisfied with the product's quality. This paper proposes a new group chain sampling plan (NGChSP) using Log-logistic distribution when the life test is truncated at a predetermined time. The minimum number of groups, g and the probability of lot acceptance, L(p) are determined through satisfying the consumer's risk, ? under the specified design parameter. This paper shows that the minimum number of groups, g decreases when the value of design parameters such as ?, a, i and r increases. With the same design parameters, the minimum g increases when the shape parameter increases. Moreover, the L(p) increases as shape parameter and minimum g increases. An illustrative example for NGChSP is provided. The findings suggest that as the test time termination constant decreases, the minimum g increases. Furthermore, as the mean ratio, 0 increases, the L(p) increases as well. In 1 comparison to GChSP, the N.....

Learning mathematics using an ethnomathematics approach: a systematic literature review
Riyan Hidayat
The study of ethnomathematics has grown significantly over the decades, especially for teaching academic mathematics in schools. However, only a small number of studies comprehensively examine research trends in the use of ethnomathematics for mathematics learning. Thus, research trends for the years 2018 to 2022 were thoroughly analyzed through systematic literature reviews referring to the standards of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). This review found 24 journal articles from the top indexing databases called Scopus and Eric. The finding of the SLR indicate that two types of ethnomathematics research are found if categorized based on the research data source. The cultural forms used in ethnomathematics research into three categories: ideas, activities, and artifacts. Indonesian researchers (n=19) dominated the collected studies as systematic review only included publications published in English. The categorization of the studies are ethnom.....

Cyber security for children: parental monitoring from a technological, child psychology and Islamic psychospiritual perspective during the covid-19 pandemic
Nor Azah Abdul Aziz
Cyber ethics awareness and education is crucial when children surf the internet especially during the Covid-19 pandemic situations where internet use is a common norm. During the pandemic, children from preschool until secondary school level had to stay at home and learn online (Teaching and Learning at Home (PdPR)). In this study, interviews are conducted to parents on how children surf the internet during the pandemic and how parents monitor and advise their children. The findings of this research suggest that parental monitoring of children related to cyber issues is equally important for the children. Parents are noticeably given a lot of advice regarding the appropriate way of communicating when playing games, the types of games played by children, the commandments and prohibitions of Allah in Islam, and also the safety and healths concern of children when playing games. Not only that, but parents also suggested to government agency such as Malaysian Communications and Multimedia .....

A review of research on medical image confidentiality related technology coherent taxonomy, motivations, open challenges and recommendations
Bahbibi Rahmatullah
With the modernization of biomedical image equipment and image processing technology, the amount of medical image data increases rapidly. These medical images need to be transmitted over a public network between doctors or hospitals to provide telemedicine services and sometimes need to be uploaded to a telemedicine data center or health cloud due to limited local computing and storage resources. Medical images involve confidential and sensitive information of patients, and the confidentiality technology to protect patient privacy is becoming more and more important. These problems have been studied by many scholars, but these studies are largely limited and scattered. To the authors knowledge, there is no systematic literature review related to medical image confidentiality technology. To provide valuable insights into the technical environment and to support researchers, the available options and gaps in this research area must be understood. Therefore, in this study, the recent 5yea.....

Geotechnical properties and applicability of bentonite-modified local soil as landfill and environmental sustainability liners
Zullyadini A. Rahaman
Liners are provided under engineering landfill sites to block the downflow of leachates and their noxious components to minimize pollution in the underlying aquifers or neighboring water bodies. Compacted clays are widely employed as suitable materials for constructing landfill liners because of their low hydraulic conductivity, balanced swelling potentials, and appropriate compressive strength. However, the quality has to be improved if the locally available soil does not meet the minimum standards for constructing liner materials. Including bentonite dosage with local soil can show better stability and strengthened cohesion bonds between molecules. This paper aims at a recent study on specific geotechnical properties of bentonite amended local Khulna clay soil intended to be used as a liner material. Bentonite in varying proportions (e.g., 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%) was mixed with local soil, and specific tests (e.g., compaction tests, consistency tests, hydraulic conductivity tests, fre.....

Summertime microscale assessment and prediction of Urban thermal comfort zone using remote-sensing techniques for Kuwait
Rahaman, Zullyadini A.
Urbanization significantly accelerates the replacement of natural land-use and land-cover (LULC) classes, which can raise the temperature and diminish thermal comfort zone (TCZ), potentially negatively affecting the environment and human health. This study assesses and predicts the impacts of LULC change on directional shrinkage of the TCZ in Kuwait, using Landsat images and cellular automata (CA) and artificial neural networks (ANN) algorithms from 1991 to 2031. The analysis revealed a rapid urban expansion (40%) in south-east (SE), north-east (NE), and north-west (NW) directions and shrinkage of TCZ (25% area with a very uncomfortable thermal condition) in NNW and SW directions, from 1991 to 2021. The predicted scenario showed an increase in urban areas from 44% (2021) to 47% (2026) and 52% (2031). In contrast, very uncomfortable TCZ (35% in 2026 and 40% in 2031) was found concentrated around urban areas and bare land toward NNE and NNW directions. The study proposes effective and su.....

Methylene blue rejection and antifouling properties of different carbonaceous additives-based polyvinylidene fluoride membrane
Suriani Abu Bakar
In the present study, various polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)-based membranes were successfully fabricated via non-solvent induced phase separation (NIPS) method utilising different carbon-based materials as additive. The incorporation of reduced graphene oxide (rGO), multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and GO-MWCNTs hybrid along with titanium dioxide (TiO2) definitely affect the fabricated membrane's morphology, hydrophilicity, porosity, filtration performance and antifouling properties. Based on dead-end filtration measurement, rGO-based PVDF/TiO2 membrane presented excellent pure water flux (2446.887 L/m2h) with membrane permeability of 1143.850 L/m2hMPa compared to other membranes. Furthermore, the inclusion of rGO and TiO2 also resulted in the highest methylene blue (MB) dye rejection rate (?92%) compared to MWCNTs (62.22%) and GO-MWCNTs (86.69%). It was believed that steric hindrance effect played a major role in enhancing dye rejection performance of PVDF@rGO/TiO2 membrane. In.....

Monitoring and predicting the influences of land use/land cover change on cropland characteristics and drought severity using remote sensing techniques
Zullyadini A. Rahaman
The Federal University of Technology at Akure (FUTA) in Nigeria is experiencing ongoing development that is leading to the replacement of agricultural and forestry land cover types. This study aimed to assess and predict changes in land use/land cover (LULC) types and their impact on crop characteristics in 17 plots of FUTA from 1991 to 2031. Crop characteristics were evaluated using the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), normalized difference water index (NDWI), normalized difference moisture index (NDMI), vegetation condition index (VCI), watershed delineation, and spectral characteristics using Landsat imageries. The land change modeler in TerraSet software was used to predict future LULC scenarios. Results showed an increase in built-up areas (15%) and bare land areas (14%), but a reduction of 19% in light vegetation cover from 1991 to 2021. The predicted LULC map illustrated a decrease in light vegetation area (11%) and an increase in built-up area (19%) from 1991 to 2.....
