| 8061 | 2019 Article | Anti-diabetic activity and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) characterization of natural esters from hexane and dichloromethane crude extracts from calyces of hibiscus sabdariffa linn Mohd Azlan Nafiah Non-polar crude extracts obtained from the calyces of Hibiscus sabdariffa Linn. (Roselle) and their α-glucosidase inhibitory activity has been investigated. Roselle extracts potentially act as an anti-diabetic activity. However, most of the previous studies on Roselle were just focused on the polar crude extracts. Therefore, hexane and dichloromethane crude extracts were selected for these study. 3 kg of samples were air dried at room temperature, ground and serially extracted by solid-liquid extraction technique using hexane and dichloromethane. Compounds were isolated and purified by various chromatographic techniques. Their structures were elucidated with 1D and 2D-NMR, and other spectroscopic methods including MS, IR and UV as well as comparison with data reported in the literature. The phytochemical study has led to the isolation of three compounds namely squalene, triglyceride fatty acids (consist of ethyl oleate, ethyl linoleate and γ-ethyl linolenate) and ethyl stearate. Base..... 1409 hits |
| 8062 | 2019 Article | Anticancer effect of hypophyllanthin, niranthin and lintetralin from phyllanthus amarus on HeLa cells and NIH/3T3 cells. Mohd Azlan Nafiah Phyllanthus amarus which is locally known as Dukung Anak was one of the herb used in traditional medicine and research of P. amarus in Malaysia was not widely reported. This present research has isolated three chemical compounds and its anticancer effect of this species has been determined. Three lignans namely hypophyllanthin was afforded from hexane crude while niranthin and lintetralin were afforded from ethanol crude. Anticancer test against HeLa cells and NIH/3T3 cells by MTT assays was tested for its anticancer effect. The result shows that hypophyllanthin was considered to possess an active anticancer effect on HeLa cells than NIH/3T3 cells compared to niranthin and lintetralin.

| 8063 | 2019 Article | Economic uncertainty, precautionary motive and the augmented form of money demand function Gan, Pei‑Tha A notable feature of empirical research on the inclusion of the economic uncertainty in the money demand function is that very few published papers rely on thespecifcations with formal clarity by studying the response of precautionary demand for money to changes in economic uncertainty. To overcome this shortcoming, this study uses the augmented form to specify the demand for money function and examines the empirical validity based on a sample of eleven countries, including four developed countries and seven developing countries. Using the panel error-correction technique, the fndings provide some policy implications; the augmented form of money demand function can characterize the diference between the three primary motives of money demand—the precautionary motive, the transactions motive and the speculative motive, and support the choice of narrow money as a guide for monetary policy that ensures that economic agents have enough money to meet unexpected expenses triggered by econom..... 544 hits |

| 8065 | 2019 Article | Teaching writing in the 21st century: an overview of theories and practices Charanjit Kaur Swaran Singh Rote memorisation and dependent teaching approaches are still common among ESL teachers teaching writing. The lack of practicability of creative approachesto violate the ‘spoon-feeding’ trend among students needs attention. This paper aims to provide an overview of theories and how these theories govern the ESL practices to teach writing creatively, using integrated strategies for weak ESL students, in order to enhance their essay writing skills. Teaching of writing creatively refers to three of the 21st Century teaching and learning skills. The three elements which are essential in the 21stCentury are: creativity (C1), collaboration (C2) and communication (C3). Therefore, this paper suggests that the teachers be exposed to the 21st century teaching skills and theories needed to teach writing. It is vital to prepare the nation’s workforce for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and high performance to set a benchmark among other countries by international standard, thus, avoid unemp..... 2172 hits |
| 8066 | 2019 Article | VLOG: an innovation in collaborative ESL learning Charanjit Kaur a/p Swaran Singh Technology has always been an important part of the teaching and learning environment. Today’s era of digital technology has provided teachers and educators with more chances to be innovative with their teaching sessions in the classroom. However, regardless of the waves of technology flooded into the education, teachers still have trouble getting learners interested in learning English language. Learners tend to be unmotivated and not fond of learning English language in the classroom. Thus, it is believed that there is a need for an innovation on the type of materials used in the classroom. One such material is the video blog or ‘vlog’ and is developed to provide learners with more meaningful and authentic materials and help learners to be more interested in learning English language in the classroom. It is hoped this innovation will be able to assist both learners and educators in their future... 1308 hits |
| 8067 | 2019 Article | The translation and adaptation culture: experience workplace incivility scale in Indonesia Nurul Ain Hidayah Abas In disruptive need to create healthy workplace in organization, in other side, 98% employee experienced workplace incivility. Most of experienced workplace incivility instrument is developed and validated in English, and has not been much studied about experience workplace incivility instrument adapted from English to Indonesia. Hence, the research aims to cross-culturally adapt the Workplace Incivility Scale. The process of the translation and culture adaption is referred to the guidelines for the cross cultural adaptation process, as suggested by Beaton, consisting of 6 stages. The first stage is forward translation, second stage is synthesis, third stage is back translation, the fourth stage is expert committee review, the fifth stage is pilot-test, and sixth stage is submission and appraisal of all written reports by developer’s/committee. Translation is conducted using two independent translators, two language native translators, expert committee review that consisted of four ex..... 1651 hits |
| 8068 | 2019 Article | Global trend on incivility research Nurul Ain Hidayah binti Abas Violation of workplace norms is perceived as incivility and could potentially bring negative consequences to psychological health and organizational attitudes. Given this, abundant research on incivility is conducted to look at the dynamics, causes, and outcomes of incivility and its negative impacts on employees’ well-being. Up until this date, no work of bibliometric study has been carried out and published. Therefore, this paper aims to analyze, and reports published works related to incivility based on the data obtained from the Scopus online database. | 8069 | 2019 Article | Extrapolation of explicit DIMSIMs of high order to solve the ordinary differential equations Annie a/p Gorgey The purpose of this research is to investigate the e?ciency of ex-plicit diagonally implicit multi-stage integration methods with ex-trapolation. The author gave detailed explanation of explicit di-agonally implicit multi-stage integration method and compared thebase method with a technique known as extrapolation to improvethe e?ciency. Extrapolation for symmetric Runge-Kutta method isproven to improve the accuracy since with extrapolation the solu-tions exhibit asymptotic error expansion, however for General linearmethods, it is not known whether extrapolation can improve the ef-?ciency or not. Therefore this research focuses on the numericalexperimental results of the explicit diagonally implicit multistageintegration with and without extrapolation for solving some ordi-nary di?erential equations. The numerical results showed that thebase method with extrapolation is more e?cient than the methodwithout extrapolation
