The effectiveness of natural language processing tool usage on motivation confidence and performance in English pronunciation learning
Mishalini Chandran
Learning English pronunciation is crucial in enhancing primary school pupils_ communication skills, yet many struggle. This study evaluates the effectiveness of a natural language processing (NLP) tool in improving primary school pupils_ English pronunciation by measuring motivation, confidence, and performance. Conducted in a primary school in Johor, the research used a randomized controlled trial (RCT) design with 30 Year 3 pupils divided into two groups (15 pupils for each group), which are a control and a treatment group. The English teacher assessed motivation, confidence, and performance using a rubric-based evaluation, with a Cronbach_s Alpha value of 0.932, indicating high reliability. This study compares conventional teaching methods with NLP. With _ = 0.10, multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) assessed the effectiveness of the teaching methods. The combined dependent variables significantly differed based on teaching methods, Pillai Trace = 0.95, F (24, 5) = 3.72, p < 0.....

Hybrid similarity measure in SmartLP: a case based system in lesson planning
Aslina Saad
Planning for teaching imposes a significant burden on teachers as they need to prepare different lesson plans for different classes according to various constraints such as students_ ability and previous knowledge. SmartLP, a casebased lesson planning system, has been implemented as a means of assisting teachers in constructing quality lesson plans more quickly and efficiently. SmartLP applied Case Based Reasoning (CBR) approach which consists of the following processes; retrieve, reuse, revise and retain within its cycle. CBR is the process of solving new problems based on the solutions of similar past problems. The first and most crucial step of solving new problem in CBR is the process of retrieval relevant cases from the case base. There are several factors that affect case retrieval such as similarity measure, indexing approach and all techniques within the approaches. Both computational (measures of similarity) and representational approaches were used for case retrieval in Smart.....

The development of The Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) standard for Malaysian ICT teachers
Sulaiman S
The main aim of this study is to develop the Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) standard for Malaysian ICT teachers. The researchers used the Delphi method to analyze data elicited from a group of practitioners, namely 245 expert ICT teachers who volunteered to participate in the study. Using this method, the teachers_ opinions were elicited through three rounds of survey to reach a consensus regarding the importance of three domains of ICT teaching: (a) Knowledge of students and learning, (b) Knowledge of curriculum, and (c) Knowledge of teaching strategies. The analysis of the data showed that there were 13 important knowledge items required by ICT teachers, 45 very important knowledge items, and one moderate item. This finding helped the researchers in developing the PCK standard that can help institutions of higher learning to improve current training practices of ICT trainee teachers. The development of a University Recycle Management System (ReMaS): the experience of UPSI
Modi Lakulu
The main aim of this study is to design and develop a recycling management system called ReMaS. An efficient recycling management system is important in assisting related activities in order to protect the environment, and furthermore, it also helps to educate the community, especially in universities, in practicing recycling activities in their daily lives. The development of this system is not only timely but necessary in view of the low awareness about recycling among many sections of the Malaysian community. ReMaS was built based on the prototype approach and was then appraised through a survey, in particular, to measure the system usability and user interface. The findings revealed that all the respondents agreed that the multimedia elements used in the system were appropriate and the system itself was easy to use. Thus, through a user friendly, easy to use recycling management system such as ReMaS, efforts to inculcate a high level of empathy toward keeping our environment clean .....

The role of general music educational in basic psychological needs satisfaction for year six students in Kuala lumpur
Wong, Jian Jing
Student motivation plays a crucial role in general music classrooms. Among various motivation theories, Self-Determination Theory (SDT) emphasises the satisfaction of three basic psychological needs: (a) autonomy, (b) competence, and (c) relatedness, which are essential for enhancing individual motivation and well-being. This quantitative study explores how well these needs are met among Year 6 students in general music classrooms. Data were collected from students in four public primary schools using an adapted version of the Basic Psychological Needs Scale questionnaire focusing on three needs in the context of music classrooms. The descriptive analysis indicates that relatedness is the most fulfilled need, with a mean score of 3.78, followed by autonomy with a mean score of 3.61, and competence with a mean score of 3.27. The overall mean score of 3.55 across all three needs indicates that students' basic psychological needs are generally well-supported in music classrooms. These res.....

The development of a flipped classroom module using project-based learning for a workplace General English course in Chinese higher vocational colleges
Han,Wei
The study aims to design a flipped classroom module of project-based learning (FCPBL) for Workplace General English course in Chinese higher vocational colleges. The study employed the design and development research approach involving need analysis, design and development, and implementation and evaluation phases. In the first phase, a survey of 404 students from five colleges was conducted to investigate their English application skills and readiness for FCPBL module. Additionally, semistructured interviews with 12 English teachers were conducted to investigate their current teaching practices. The findings indicated that students had a moderate level of English proficiency (mean = 2.93) but exhibited a high level of readiness (mean = 3.54). The current English teaching is teacher-centered and lacks workplace-relevant content. These findings highlighted the critical need for FCPBL module to improve students_ English proficiency. In the design phase, FCPBL module was developed using F.....

The effects of Wearable resistance loading distribution on biomechanical and mood responses during jumping kicks in Pencak Silat
Saidatul Nur Syuhadah Mohamed Sabadri
Wearable resistance (WR) is increasingly used in sports training to enhance performance by adding external loads to sport-specific movements. However, limited research has explored WR applications in Pencak Silat, particularly during jumping kicks. This study aimed to (1) determine and compare the biomechanical effects of WR loading distributions (3% of body mass at shank, thigh, combined shank and thigh, and 0% without load) on jumping front and back kicks, (2) examine the psychological effect of WR on mood responses during warm-up, and (3) evaluate the chronic effects of WR loading distributions on kicking performance after six weeks of training. A total of fifteen (N=15) athletes participated in the biomechanical analysis, sixty (N=60) in the mood response study, and forty (N=40) in the training intervention. Kinematic data, including kicking velocity, kicking time, kicking height, hip angle, and leg displacement, were analyzed using Kinovea software, while the Brunel Mood Scale mea.....
