| 6492 | 2021 Article | Carbon nanotubes from waste cooking palm oil as adsorbent materials for the adsorption of heavy metal ions Suriani Abu Bakar In this work, waste cooking palm oil (WCPO)-based carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with encapsulated iron (Fe) nanoparticles have been successfully produced via modified thermal chemical vapor deposition method. Based on several characterizations, the dense WCPO-based CNT was produced with high purity of 89% and high crystallinity proven by low ID/IG ratio (0.43). Moreover, the ferromagnetic response of CNTs showed that the average coercivity and magnetization saturation were found to be 551.5 Oe and 13.4 emu/g, respectively. These produced WCPO-based CNTs were further used as heavy metal ions adsorbent for wastewater treatment application. Some optimizations, such as the effect of different adsorbent dosage, varied initial pH solution, and various heavy metal ions, were investigated. The adsorption studies showed that the optimum adsorbent dosage was 1.8 g/L when it was applied to 100 mg/L Cu (II) solution at neutral pH (pH 7). Norhayati Daud This study examined the efficiency of callus induction on optimum concentrations of NAA (?-naphthaleneacetic acid) and BAP (6-benzyladenine) from culturing stem and leaf explants of finger eggplant (Solanum sp.) and investigated the phytochemical constituents of callus tissue. Seeds were sterilized by using 3 and 5 % Clorox solution, which gave the highest number of survival seeds (100 %) and were grown in vitro plantlets. The highest frequency of callus induction (100.00 � 0.00 %) was obtained from stems and leaf explants that were excised from in vitro plantlets. The stem explants cultured on MS medium consisted of 1.0 mg/L NAA + 1.0 mg/L BAP, giving the maximum mean callus fresh weight (0.14 � 0.05 g). Meanwhile, the leaf explants cultured on MS medium consisted of 0.5 mg/L NAA + 2.0 mg/L BAP, generating the maximum mean callus fresh weight (0.48 � 0.10 g). The paper aimed to address several research questions, mainly the association between boards of directors? composition: board diversity, and board independence, and the level of financial disclosure on social media by UAE firms. The research data is collected from 103 firms listed in the UAE financial markets for the period 2018?2019. The research result indicates that the relationship between board composition and the social media financial disclosure is significant and positive. Data in the form of long pass kick video with airborne ball test. Data analyzing used Kinovea software to determine the flexion angle of backswing kick leg, hip angle, and distance to target, then looking for the force, power, and energy in kick motion. The motion analysis shown that sample 3 produces closest distance to target as far as 0.65 m which done with flexion angle of backswing knee is 740 and hip angle of 640. The force exerted by sample 3 is 10.09 N, resulting in a ball speed of 22.42 m/s and a kinetic energy of 113.12 Joule, potential energy of 14.64 Joule and mechanical energy of 127.76 Joule. | 6500 | 2021 Article | Betel essential oil-loaded lipid-core nanocapsules as mosquito repellent spray formulations for fabric finishes Azlan Kamari In the present study, poly(?-caprolactrone) nanocapsules were loaded with betel essential oil and used as anti-mosquito spray formulations for cotton and polyester fabrics for the first time. The release and retention of betel essential oil on the fabrics after sequential washing and heating were determined using UV-Visible spectrophotometry. The repellent activity of cotton and polyester fabrics was evaluated using an Excito chamber test on Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. The nanocapsules exhibited high betel essential oil encapsulation efficiency (98.70%) and remained stable throughout 60 days of colloidal system stability study. The encapsulation of betel essential oil in the lipid core of polymer nanocapsules was able to increase the durability towards washing and heating, as the fabrics still exhibited a good repellency of up to 47% against mosquitoes even after 5 sequential washing cycles.
