| 7901 | 2019 Article | The effects of areca cathecu and ficus deltoidea methanolic extracts on glycemic and reproductive parameters in alloxan-induced diabetic rats Alene Tawang Background: Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic diseases characterized by disordered metabolism and abnormally high levels of blood glucose. Aim: This study was conducted to study the effects of Areca catechu seeds and Ficus deltoidea fruits methanolic extracts on glycemic and reproductive parameters of alloxan-induced diabetic rats.
Methodology: Diabetes mellitus was induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of 100 mg/kg bwt alloxan monohydrate. Blood glucose level was estimated using electronic glucometer and sperm parameters were measured using Makler chamber. Insulin and testosterone were estimated by ELISA kits.
Results: A. catechu and F. deltoidea methanolic extracts significantly reduced blood glucose levels and increased insulin secretion. Both extracts also significantly increased sperm quality and testosterone secretion in diabetic rats.

| 7902 | 2019 Article | Economic entrepreneurship of the female business operators: A SWOT analysis Norimah Rambeli The main objective of this study is to identify the factors that may influence the performance of businesses operated by female entrepreneurs in the east coast region in Malaysia. In particular, the focus factors are; the Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. To achieve this objective, the study was conducted in three selected areas, namely in Besut and Kuala Terengganu in Terengganu state and in Pasir Mas of the Kelantan state. A total of 300 questionnaires were distributed, and 280 sets were successfully returned. The data was analyzed by using a descriptive method which was processed through Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) Version 20 software. The results for the performance analysis reported “Expansion” as the highest percent in Besut (77.8%), Kuala Terengganu (100%), and Pasir Mas (95.6%). (Garden Asparagus) in vitro Nor Azlina Hasbullah Asparagus officinalis L. is a herbaceous plant belongs to liliaceae family with semi-erect and branched articulated branches and thick and white root, between 30 and 100 cm in length and 0.7 to 1 cm in thickness and dioecious perennial herb and is native to the Asia, Africa and Europe. This study highlights micropropagation of Asparagus officinalis L. through tissue culture techniques. Asparagus officinalis L. seeds were first washed throughly under running tap water for two hour. And then seed were soaked with distilled water for 24 hours. Seeds were then rinsed using 70%, 50%, 20% and 10% sodium hypochlorite followed by distilled water. This series of seed sterilization was done sequentially. Subsequently seeds were rinsed with 70% ethanol and finally with distilled water prior to culture. The Pondok education could not be ignored in the local MalayMuslims society of southern Thailand but the study of Islam at Pondok compared to the study of Islam at the local universities is so far being disturbed. Although there have been attempts to introduce Pondok education in government universities such as Prince of Songkhla University (PSU). There was no attempt to integrate the two systems of education together. To a large extent, the two systems are offered and studied in isolation. There were four treatment groups implemented in this study which include monoculture of karas(control), karas with chilli (T1), karas with okra(T2) and karas with corn (T3). The karas tree growth parameters measured were height (cm), circumference (cm) and leaves count. The production yield of selected short-term crops was weighed in kilogram and the net profit analysis was made based on the market price of chilli, corn and okra. | 7910 | 2019 Article | Working capital management and financial performance of Malaysian construction sector companies Aik, Nai-Chiek This study examines the effects of working capital management on financial performance of construction companies listed in Bursa Malaysia for the period of 2012 to 2016. The findings show that only a shortening collection period and a positive working capital are significant to improve financial performance of local construction firms. An effective working capital management however does not contribute significantly to operating cash flow and share price of construction firms in Malaysia.
