Analysis of continuous connectivity in mobile multihop relay network
Nurul Nazirah binti Mohd Imam Ma
Mobile Multihop Relay (MMR) network is an attractive and low-cost solution for expanding service coverage and enhancing throughput of the conventional single hop network. However, mobility of Mobile Station (MS) in MMR network might lead to performance degradation in terms of Quality of Service (QoS). Selecting an appropriate Relay Station (RS) that can support data transmission for high mobility MS to enhance QoS is one of the challenges in MMR network. The main goal of the work is to develop and enhance relay selection mechanisms that can assure continuous connectivity while ensuring QoS in MMR networkusing NCTUns simulation tools. The approach is to develop and enhance a relay selection for MS with continuous connectivity in non-transparent relay. In this approach, the standard network entry procedure is modified to allow continuous connectivity with reduced signaling messages whenever MS joins RS that is out of Multihop Relay Base Station (MRBS) coverage and the relay selection is .....

Effects of schemata in enhancing critical thinking during problem based learning task
Julinamary A. Parnabas
This study investigates the effects of schemata in enhancing critical thinking skills during Problem based learning task. This is because many educated students are not capable to "think out of the box". In addition, they are also not able to use their critical thinking in writing and speaking. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to investigate whether ESL learners' content schemata and formal schemata enhance their critical thinking skills such as identifying problems, causes, effects and suggesting solutions during Problem based learning. Purposive sampling was conducted on a group of 6 respondents from Form 2 in a rural secondary school, in Perak. This research is an ethnographic research using the Vignettes technique. Hence, the research instruments include the interview, writing task, and reading comprehension test. Data was analyzed using constant comparison method. The findings of this research revealed that, both content schemata and formal schemata enhanced E.....

Resistor value checker kit for educational purpose
Nurul Nazirah binti Mohd Imam Ma
The use of technology in creating Teaching Aids (TA) for the Teaching and Learning (TL) process has a great impact on delivering knowledge and skills as well as expediting the learning process amongst students. Additionally, game-based TA plays an important role in improving the achievement and efficiency of students in the classroom. This research was conducted to develop the education kit for TL Resistor Color Code (RCC). The main purpose of this education kit development is to help students understand the RCC through a fun learning environment based on hands-on learning activity. This education kit known as Resistor Value Checker (RVC) kit is built on the concept of 21st Century Learning (21-CL) which concerns about the use of appropriate technology in the process of the TL in the classroom. It is designed with the latest facilities and different from existing products in the market...

Implementing a celik stem module in empowering eighth-graders

Modeling and optimal control on the spread of hantavirus infection
Fauzi Mohamed Yusof
In this paper, optimal control theory is applied to a system of ordinary differential equations representing a hantavirus infection in rodent and alien populations. The effect of the optimal control in eliminating the rodent population that caused the hantavirus infection is investigated. In addition, Pontryagin’s maximum principle is used to obtain the necessary condition for the controls to be optimal. The Runge–Kutta method is then used to solve the proposed optimal control system. The findings from the optimal control problem suggest that the infection may be eradicated by implementing some controls for a certain period of time. This research concludes that the optimal control mathematical model is an effective method in reducing the number of infectious in a community and environment...

Effect of photo-autotrophic cultural conditions on the biomass productivity and composition of Chlorella vulgaris
Norjan Yusof
The study aims to investigate the effect of photo-autotrophic cultural conditions on the productivity and biomass composition of Chlorella vulgaris. The following five photo-autotrophic cultural conditions were investigated: light intensity (4000, 10,500, 17,000, 23,000, 30,000 lux), temperature (25, 28, 32, 35, 40 C), pH (6, 7, 8, 9, 10), CO2 (0.03, 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10%) and NO3 (0, 250, 500, 750, 1000 mg/L). Results indicate that lipid and protein yields were increased by 3.19 fold and decreased by 1.47 fold, respectively, under NO3 deficiency (0 mg/L). Meanwhile, carbohydrate yield was increased by 1.39 fold in 5% CO2. Further cultivation with parameters of the highest biomass productivity (10,500 lux, 28 C, pH 8, 5% CO2 and 500 mg/L NO3 ) achieved the maximum biomass productivity of 0.468 g/L/day. Moreover, cultivation with parameters of the highest lipid yield (23,500 lux, 40 C, pH 8, 0.03% CO2 and 0 mg/L NO3) achieved the maximum lipid yield of 43.70%. The major fatty acid methyl .....

The relation between arabic language learning and the understanding of islamic sciences among arabic language learners at Malaya University
Alhirtani, Nahla A. K.
This study investigates the relationship between the Arabic language and Islamic sciences. The paper aims at identifying the impact of learning Arabic on the understanding of Quran Interpretation, Islamic Law (Hadith), and Islamic Jurisprudence. The researcher uses the analytic descriptive approach and used the questionnaire as a data collection method. The population of the study was the students of Arabic language and Islamic Sciences at Malaya University, the sample was 55 students from this department. The main results of the paper were that non-Arab learners of Arabic find it very helpful in understanding the Quran and Islamic sciences. In addition, learners did not think that the Arabic language enables them to comprehend the Islamic sciences completely. Based on these results, the researcher suggested a few recommendations. The main ones are to improve the level of teaching the Arabic language in the university, reinforce the linkage between the Arabic language and the Islamic s.....

Primary school
Mohammad Nasir Bistamam
The aim of this experimental study is to determine the effect of early psychoeducational intervention process through Primary School’s Psychoeducational Cognitive Behavior Module (MPpKTSR) on psychological aspects (resilience, motivation, depression and coping skills). First phase of this study involved 160 participants who have Marker System characteristics. While second phase involved 80 subject (40 males; 40 females) who had been chosen from the result of the first phase based on few criteria (low level of resilience, motivation and coping skill; high level of depression). These criteria were measure through Instrumen Remaja Berisiko Sekolah Rendah (IRBSR). They were divided into two group (treatment and control group). Through ANCOVA analysis that have been conducted, MPpKTSR have positive impact where this module effectively increases the level of resilience, motivation and coping skill, and reduce depression level among subject in treatment group (male and female). As the concl.....
