BACKGROUND: Snail allergy is rare but can be fatal. Pila polita, a freshwater snail, was considered as a popular exotic food, particularly in tropical countries, and consumed in processed forms. Thus, the purpose of this study was to identify the major and cross-reactive allergens of P. polita and to determine the impact of food processing on the allergen stability. RESULTS: Sodium dodecyl sulfatepolyacrylamide gel electrophoresis fractionated raw snail extract to approximately 24 protein bands, between 9 and 245 kDa. The prominent band at 33 kDa was detected in all raw and processed snail extracts. Immunoblotting tests of the raw extract demonstrated 19 immunoglobulin E (IgE)-binding proteins, and four of them, at 30, 35, 42 and 49 kDa, were revealed as the major IgE-binding proteins of P. polita. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry identified the 49 and 42 kDa major allergens as actin, whereas the 30 and 35 kDa major allergens were identified .....

Due to the vast volumes of newly streamed data on the Internet and social media, the use of sentiment analysis (SA) to extract information and analyze people's opinions has become a trendy topic. Yet, the majority of research are attributed to the English language, despite the fact that other languages, such as Arabic, are among the most popular on the Internet. Considering the availability of numerous dialects of this language and how their data were annotated and processed, the absence of research in this field is evident. Understanding these initiatives merits a great deal of attention in Arabic SA research. This article aims to explore the symptoms and characteristics of dyscalculia. This is a qualitative study. Five experts in the field of special education took part in a focus group interview. Each expert had more than ten years of experience in their area of expertise. To determine the content validity of the protocol, three experts in special education, language and qualitative research evaluated each of the eight items. Cohen's kappa analysis was used to assess inter-rater reliability. The findings of this study indicate that 59 items have been developed, based on six constructs in the dyscalculia checklist. The six constructs were subitising, estimating, Arabic numerals, verbal numbers, arithmetic facts and calculating processes. Following the focus group interview, a new construct emerged: math anxiety. Brassica vegetables are bitter, predominantly because they contain bitter-tasting glucosinolates. Individuals with high bitter taste sensitivity are reported to have lower consumption of bitter vegetables. Studies reported that cooking methods can alter the sensory characteristics of vegetables, increasing acceptability. This study investigated consumer liking of turnip cooked by four methods (boiled-pureed, roasted, steamed-pureed and stir-fried) and related this to sensory characteristics. Additionally, this study examined the effect of the bitter taste genotype on taste perception and liking of the cooked turnip samples. Participants (n = 74) were recruited and the TAS2R38 genotype was measured. Liking, consumption intent, perception of bitterness and sweetness of turnip were evaluated. Delayed onset muscle soreness is a process of adaptation from exercise that manifests as muscular discomfort. In general, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation stretching and ice massage are used for prevention. Nevertheless, the combination of the two methods requires more empirical evidence. The objective of this research was to see how efficient a combination of stretching, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, and ice massage was at preventing delayed onset muscle soreness. The study method was an experiment using a pretest-posttest control group design. The data collection technique was observation and testing. In this research, the participants were 20 male sports students. Purposive sampling was the sampling technique used. The instruments used were a pain level questionnaire and a goniometer. The main objective of this study was to explore the challenges and psychological skills training (PST) experiences of Malaysian elite hockey players. A qualitative research approach was used to obtain individual experiences and players perspectives on PST program and their experiences and opinion during their participation as national hockey players. Using a semi-structured interview, five main themes emerged from the inductive content analysis: (1) main challenges and experiences related to participants as elite national hockey players; (2) participants opinions regarding their individual psychological needs or requirements; (3) participants opinion regarding PST in hockey; (4) participants perception regarding psychologist or consultant who provides PST to them; and (5) participants experiences with PST program provided as national players. Polyalthia is one of the largest and most notable genera in the Annonaceae family, with approximately 346 species. Polyalthia is a palaeotropical genus with a wide distribution, particularly in Southeast Asia [1]. It is considered to be of medicinal importance because of the presence of clerodane diterpenoids and alkaloids in various parts of the plant [2]. There are several reports on the composition of the essential oils of the Polyalthia species [3]. Polyalthia hookeriana King is commonly found in Malaysia and Singapore. It is a tree and shrub that can grow up to 21 metres tall. The flower has six petals in two whorls, the inner petals curving inward over the centre [4]. The literature search did not reveal any reports on the essential oil composition of P. hookeriana.
