Delivery of sexuality education to students with intellectual disabilities in secondary schools: educators’ perspective

The issue of sexuality education is not a new thing in today’s education. However, the implementation of sexuality education or talking about sexuality is a controversial issue and considered sensitive by some. This is because the term ‘sex’ carries different connotations to some people, and this is still considered a stigma by our society. Malaysia society is generally negatively prejudiced on the issue of the implementation of sexuality education for students with learning difficulties. The purpose of this study was to identify teachers' perceptions of the challenges of sexuality education delivery. This study uses a qualitative approach, and three study participants were selected in a school in the district of Kuala Selangor. The instrument used in this study was a semi -structured interview. Decision making power in domestic sphere: participation of professional Indian women in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor

In most of the societies, the decision making power of women is limited due to gender perspectives and cultural practices. Similarly in Indian society, patriarchy ideology is very common in which men are the main breadwinners and decision-makers of the family but this belief is gradually changing. Thus, this study aims to explore the participation of professional Indian women in the decision making power in the family on the aspect of household matters. Fifteen Indian women, who work in different professional sectors and live in Kuala Lumpur and the Selangor area, were selected for this study. A qualitative approach using one to one in-depth interview method was used to gather the primary data. The findings show that majority of the husbands are sharing the household chores equally with their wife but there are still some men who do not provide any assistance in doing house works. This paper discusses critical success factors involved in developing Authentic Learning Teacher Competency Model based on Malaysian education system. Authentic learning is an approach that facilitates learners’ acquisition of knowledge by exposing them to real-world experiences. Implementing authentic learning approach requires educators to carry out a learning design that connect what learners are taught in school to real-world issues, problems and applications. Learning taught through this way must be able to mirror the complexities and ambiguities of real-life. Cooperative behaviour in peer interactions during child’s initiated activities

This study aims to identify the cooperative behaviour in peer interaction during child’s initiated activities. The objective to focus on interaction between children during learning activity and free play time at early childhood education centres. This study uses qualitative data. A total of 25 children in pre-school in Selangor, Malaysia were observed their interaction during learning activities and free play. The findings show two pattern of interaction: first, children engage in cooperative activity caused by shared intentionality. they cooperated with each other to do the group task. This activity gave the children a chance to practice cooperative behavior. Second, friends were instigated peer interaction. Objektif kajian ini adalah untuk mengenal pasti pengaruh pengetahuan mengurus, sikap dalam mengurus dan pengalaman terhadap kemahiran mengurus mata pelajaran Bahasa Melayu dalam kalangan guru novis bukan opsyen Bahasa Melayu. Pendekatan kajian ialah kajian kuantitatif dengan reka bentuk tinjauan untuk menjawab tujuh persoalan kajian dan tiga hipotesis. Sampel kajian ialah 80 orang guru novis yang mengajar mata pelajaran Bahasa Melayu dari 35 buah Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) daerah Kinta Utara, Ipoh, Perak yang dipilih menggunakan teknik pensampelan rawak mudah. Contribution of job stress and self-efficacy towards burnout among secondary school teachers

This study aimed to identify the contribution of job stress and self-efficacy towards burnout among secondary school teachers. The collection of data was done using survey method. The respondents were 94 secondary school teachers from selected school within Batang Padang District, Perak. The data were collected using a set of questionnaires, which contained the Effort Reward Imbalance Scale (ERI), Teacher’s Sense of Efficacy Scale (TSES) and Maslach Burnout Inventory-Educators Survey (MBI-ES). The descriptive statistics was utilized to see the levels of variables involved and multiple regression was utilized to predict the contribution of job stress and self-efficacy towards burnout. The findings revealed that both variables of job stress and self-efficacy were significantly contributed to burnout among the secondary school teachers. Penilaian pelaksanaan pendidikan berasaskan hasil (OBE) di Politeknik Premier di Malaysia

Tujuan kajian ini adalah untuk menilai keberkesanan program pendidikan berasaskan hasil (OBE) di politeknik premier di Malaysia. Kajian ini menggunakan reka bentuk penilaian program CIPP oleh Stufflebeam daripada dimensi konteks, input, proses dan produk. Persampelan rawak berstrata berdasar jenis politeknik, bidang pengajian serta kategori responden. Tiga politeknik premier, tiga bidang dan tiga kategori responden yang terdiri daripada pentadbir, pensyarah dan pelajar. Berdasarkan jadual penentuan saiz sampel Krejcie dan Morgan, seramai 38 pentadbir, 250 pensyarah dan 580 pelajar telah dipilih. Kajian ini menggunakan instrumen yang terdiri daripada soal selidik, protokol temubual dan analisis dokumen. Data kuantitatif menunjukkan responden sangat bersetuju (M=3.89; SP=0.67) bahawa pelaksanaan OBE di politeknik premier adalah berkesan. This study aims to build the Holistic Assessment Standard (HAS) instrument for handball games based on the teaching method of Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) in Form 2 Physical Education through the Holistic Assessment Standards (HAS) approach. Concept of DDR in developing health education assessment module for classroom-based assessment

The purpose of this study is to design and Health Education assessment module for Classroom-based assessment implementation. This study will employ the Design and Development Research (DDR) approach, which has three phases. During phase one, needs analysis carried out with 291 Health Education teachers. This is to identify whether there is a need to develop Health Education Assessment Module for Classroom-based assessment implementation. During the second phase, the design and development phase, the Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM), will be carried out by inviting 20 experts from various fields. During the evaluation phase, quasi experiment will be implemented to know the module's effectives among lower primary students. Random sampling will be used in the need analysis and evaluation phase, while purposive sampling method in the second phase. The data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics. Challenges faced by preschool teachers in implementing physical activity during home-based teaching and learning

Home-based teaching and learning were implemented following the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country as part of an initiative to ensure students are able to learn despite the school closure. Children’s physical activity becomes limited when the Movement Control Order was initiated restricts their attendance at school. This study aims to identify the challenges faced by preschool teachers in performing physical activities during home-based teaching and learning. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. A total of 147 preschool teachers from a district in Kedah were randomly selected to answer the questionnaire provided. Data were analyzed descriptively by looking at means and percentages. The findings showed 95% of teachers stated that they use songs to teach physical activities to children. Barriers and challenges faced by teachers due to children not having good internet access for online learning (54.4%). Findings for parental support showed they helped children.....
