| 6411 | 2021 Thesis | The effect of Safety Practices on Organizational Performance in Malaysian public universities Lingaswaran Arjunan This study aimed to examine the effect of Safety Practices (SP) on Organizational Performance (OP) in Malaysian public universities. To test the proposed framework, this research adopted the positivist, deductive and quantitative approach. Data, which
was gathered from a simple random sample of 385 academicians from 20 Malaysian
public universities using an online questionnaire, was analysed using multiple regression. The findings showed that there was a positive and significant effect of
Safety Management and Leadership (SML) on OP (β=0.314, p=0.000), Safety Policy,
Procedures, and Processes (SPPP) on OP (β=0.278, p=0.000), and Workforce Safety
Culture (WSC) on OP (β=0.204, p=0.000) at the significance value of 0.000. On the other hand, the findings also revealed the insignificant effect of Safety Learning and
Training (SLT) on OP (β=0.029, p=0.395) through SP implementation. Besides, the Safety Practice Performance Improvement (SPPI) Tool developed in this study could serve..... 941 hits |
| 6412 | 2021 Thesis | Voltammetric sensors of bisphenol A, uric acid, dopamine and acetaminophen using layered double hydroxide modified multiwalled carbon nanotubes paste Nurashikin Abd Azis This study aimed to develop a voltammetric sensor for the determination of bisphenol
A (BPA), uric acid (UA), dopamine (DA) and acetaminophen (ACT) using multiwalled
carbon nanotubes incorporated with zinc/aluminium layered double hydroxidequinmerac
(Sensor 1), zinc/aluminium layered double hydroxide-quinclorac (Sensor 2)
and zinc/aluminium layered double hydroxide-clopyralid (Sensor 3). The surface
morphological was determined using field emission scanning electron microscope. The
electrochemical properties were characterized by cyclic voltammetry, square wave
voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Several experimental
variables of voltammetric analysis such as composition ratios, type of supporting
electrolyte, pH of the solution and square wave voltammetry parameters were
optimized. The effective surface area of electrodes was determined by
chronocoulometry. At the optimum conditions, Sensor 1 showed three linear ranges for
the single determination of BP..... 2009 hits |
| 6413 | 2020 Article | The birth of the glorious Ming books, knowledge production and the formation of dynastic consciousness in the record of heroes and martyrs Liu, Chiung-yun Evelyn By examining the intertwined relationship between Chen Jian’s (1497-1567) Huang Ming tongji ????(Comprehensive Annals of Imperial Ming) and the anonymous historical novel Yinglie zhuan ???(The Record of Heroes and Martyrs), this paper demonstrates that these two works together play a significant role in disseminating knowledge about the founding of the Ming dynasty from mid-sixteenth century onward. It first inspects how these two works and their later editions borrow from each other. Then, by paying special attention to the book forms of The Record of Heroes and Martyrs, including the illustrations, table formats, and special marks that serve as reading aids for the reader, this paper analyzes how these special designs might have helped the reader grasp historical information and envision the past of the dynasty in a way hard to achieve before the proliferation of books. While previous studies tend to downplay these historical novels for their Confucian didacticism and lack of artis..... 1065 hits |
| 6414 | 2020 Article | Sinophone philosophy as a part of world philosophy: a preliminary discussion Ishii, Tsuyoshi To date, the term “Sinophone philosophy” seems not so common. To say “Sinophone” instead of “Chinese”, indicates some unique prospect that would not be shared with Chinese philosophy. Much like other Sinophone studies, Sinophone philosophy considers the abundant differences between speech sounds emerging within the Sinophone sphere or on its periphery. It stands on a shared writing system –– Chinese characters, or kanji –– to embrace each individual voice that represents one’s physical existence. It aims not only at a transcultural comparison of regional philosophies, but it also engages with the ethics of transcultural encounters, in so far as it emerged from and remains embedded in a trans-cultural and trans-lingual context. In practical terms, Sinophone philosophy could be a part of the movement to engage with world philosophy, which has been advocated by some philosophers in Japan. They argue that in order to liberate philosophy from a Eurocentric view roote..... 731 hits |
| 6415 | 2020 Article | Roles of the sentence-final particles in cognition of irony ——based on the test of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders Zhang, Di Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) have some shortcomings in the understanding of irony. It’s mainly from the prosody, a kind of language cue, to study the understanding of irony. However, Chinese-speaking children with ASD are less capable of using prosodic cues for irony comprehension, and sentence-final particles (SFPs) may be used for this pragmatic function. This study used three measurement indicators (the attitude, intention and language explanation) to examine the effects of the SFPs on the comprehension of different types of irony between the High-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder (HFASD) and the Typical Development (TD) children group. The study found there was a significant difference on the irony comprehension between two groups. Language cues SFPs can only play a role in the irony which HFASD children can make the understanding and judgment by. And for TD children, the SFP made a significant effect on the irony of compliment. It shows that two groups used d..... 2208 hits |
