| 2023 Article | Removal of heavy metals from wastewater using low-cost biochar prepared from jackfruit seed waste Husni Ibrahim The present study focuses on using jackfruit seed waste (JSW) for bioremediation of heavy toxic metals from water. The fruit is abundantly grown in India and Far East countries and produces myriad tons of seeds. A simple procedure is developed in the laboratory by thermally activating JSW by orthophosphoric acid at 500 C. Surface morphology, porosity, and structural analyses of the resultant biochar were conducted. The activated biochar was applied for batch adsorption of several heavy metal ions: Fe(III), Cd(II), Cu(II), Pb(II), and Mn(VII) at pH 7. The average heavy metal uptake by activated JSW biochar is 76.4 mg g?1, 79.4 mg g?1, 97.9 mg g?1, 79.9 mg g?1, and 79.8 mg g?1 for Fe(III), Pb(II), Cu(II), Cd(II), and Mn(VII), respectively. The experimental conditions were optimized to remove heavy metals at neutral pH. The adsorption process was exothermic, and Langmuir and pseudo-second-order kinetic study models were best fitted. The observation was in close agreement with the experime..... 141 hits |
| 2023 Article | A variable dimensional chaotic map-based medical image encryption algorithm with multi-mode Bahbibi Rahmatullah Since the COVID-19 pandemic, telemedicine or non-face-to-face medicine has increased significantly. In practice, various types of medical images are essential to achieve effective telemedicine. Medical image encryption algorithms play an irreplaceable role in the fast and secure transmission and storage of these medical images. However, most of the existing medical image encryption algorithms are full encryption algorithms, which are inefficient and time-consuming, so they are not suitable for emergency medical scenarios. To improve the efficiency of encryption, a small number of works have focused on partial or selective encryption algorithms for medical images, in which different levels of encryption strategies were adopted for different information content regions of medical images. However, these encryption algorithms have inadequate security more or less. In this paper, based on the Logistic map, we designed an improved variable dimension map. Then, an encryption algorithm for med..... 209 hits |
| 2023 Article | Multi-perspective evaluation of integrated active cooling systems using fuzzy decision making model Abdullah Hussein Abdullah Al-Amoodi As global median temperatures continue to rise, the demand for active cooling systems (ACs) is increasing. These systems are particularly prevalent in developed countries for maintaining comfort during hot weather. Various ACs technologies are available, and assessing their performance in multi-perspective settings is necessary to determine the best option for intended usage. This requires an evaluation platform for assessment. This paper presents a novel multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) model based on a new integrated 2-tuple linguistic Pythagorean fuzzy-weighted zero-inconsistency (2 TLP-FWZIC) and modified 2-tuple linguistic Pythagorean fuzzy multi-attributive border approximation area comparison (2TLPF-MABAC). The former is used to determine the importance of assessment criteria, while the latter is employed for selecting the optimal ACs using the obtained weights. The first-level weighting results reveal that performance criteria were predominantly favored for assessment, wit..... 236 hits |
| 2023 Article | Analysis of goal scoring pathway for the winners in UEFA champions league competition Mirza Azny Mustafa In soccer, goal scoring becomes the main factor in distinguishing between the winning and losing teams. One of the most crucial components of a soccer team's offensive performance is the goal-scoring path since it has been correlated with a higher likelihood of winning games. Therefore, the study aims to investigate the pathway of goal scoring among the winning teams in the previous seven consecutive seasons (2015/2016 2021/2022) in the UEFA Champions League competition. A total of 216 goals from the UEFA Champions League competitions in seven prior seasons (2015/2016-2019/2020) were examined. The pathway of goal scoring has been divided into long sequence passing, short sequence passing, and others. All the data have been recorded by using hand notational analysis and analyzed by using one-way ANOVA. A total of 216 goals were scored throughout the competition showing that 108 goals were from long sequence passing, 57 goals were from short sequence passing, and 51 goals came from other..... 218 hits |
| 2023 Article | The relationship between perceived coachs competence support, task orientation, self-efficacy and engagement of Chinese high school football players Norsilawati Abdul Razak This study aims to investigate the relationship between perceived coachs competence support, task orientation, self-efficacy and engagement of Chinese high school football players from a competency motivation perspective. A cross-sectional survey of 385 Chinese high school football players (228 boys; 157 girls; Mage = 16.07 years; SD = 1.15; range = 14-19 years) was conducted using proportional stratified random sampling. A multivariate mediation model was tested using structural equation modelling (SEM) to investigate the relationships of perceived coaching competency support on athlete engagement directly, or indirectly through task orientation and self-efficacy. Perceived coachs competence support positively predicted athlete engagement through task orientation and self-efficacy (? = .116, p < 0.01; ? = .112, p < 0.01), and perceived coachs competence support positively predicted self-efficacy through task orientation, and then positively predicted athlete engagement (? = .045, p < ..... 220 hits |
| 2023 Article | The impact of leg width on muscle activation and performance during push-up exercise Ali Md Nadzalan Push-up is an effective bodyweight exercise that can help improve the muscular endurance and strength of the upper limb muscles from health risks. Additionally, there are many ways to perform push-up, and it might cause several changes to its effectiveness. This includes changing the leg conditions such as legs open wide, legs open to shoulder-width, and narrow legs. The study aimed to investigate the effect of leg width during push-ups on muscle activity and performance. A total of 30 trained men (22.36 2.17 years old) participated in the study. Participants were required to perform push-ups in three conditions; i) leg open wide, ii) leg open to shoulder width, and iii) narrow leg. The electromyography (EMG) was used to evaluate the activity of the anterior deltoid (AD), pectoralis major (PM), and triceps brachii (TB) muscles in all conditions.
