| 701 | 2024 Article | Extraction of gold from gravity-flotation concentrates via surfactant and oxidation reagents Muhammad Noorazlan Abd Azis The focus of this work is to establish a hydrometallurgical technique for efficiently extracting gold from the aggregated gold-rich concentrate produced by a mining facility in one of Kazakhstan's deposits. The leaching techniques applied to gravity-flotation concentrates include hydrometallurgical gold recovery processes using the surfactant sulfanol and the oxidizing reagent trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA). The findings indicate the effectiveness of leaching gravity-flotation concentrates with oxidizing (accelerating) reagents. Gold extraction through cyanidation of the blended concentrate, ground to 89–90% passing 10 µm with TCCA, averaged 84.0%, compared to 65.76–67.8% with conventional direct cyanidation. The advantage of employing chlorine-based oxidants, such as TCCA, in hydrometallurgical processing lies in their applicability in both acidic and alkaline environments, whereas other oxidants are constrained by specific technological conditions. Technical trichloroisocyanu..... 46 hits |

Despite the high demand for bananas, they have a relatively short shelf-life. To mitigate these shortcomings, researchers have explored the use of edible coatings to extend the shelf-life of bananas. Nevertheless, only a few studies have assessed the integration of starch, gum, and zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs) in developing a coating solution that can preserve the qualities of bananas post-harvest. Therefore, the present work assessed the antibacterial properties of a novel edible coating formulation combining cassava starch, xanthan gum, and ZnONPs, and its impact on the physicochemical characteristics and shelf-life of bananas of the ‘Pisang Berangan’ variety (Musa acuminata). Firstly, coating solutions with compositions of cassava starch, xanthan gum, and varying concentrations of ZnONPs were prepared. Their antibacterial properties were then assessed using t..... 57 hits |

| 706 | 2024 Article | Recyclable and reusable catalyst of chitosan-modified mgal-layered double hydroxide for biodiesel production Azlan Kamari Study of chitosan modification to MgAl-LDH to increase surface basicity for improving biodiesel production from palm oil has been performed. Modification was conducted by chitosan gel impregnation onto prepared MgAl-LDH. Furthermore, the physicochemical character of material was evaluated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, gas sorption analysis, and determination of solid basicity. The XRD, specific surface area, pore distribution, and TEM analyses confirmed the reduced specific surface area due to the exfoliated LDH conformation. However, the increased surface basicity aroused from the modification leads to improved catalytic activity and yield. The maximum biodiesel yield of 92.8 % was achieved by the methanol to oil ratio of 10:1 at 90 °C for 2 h. The prominent reusability until the 5th cycle of usage without significant activity change is a potency for advocating the suitability of the low-cost catalysis technology for comme..... 56 hits |
